If you can't scrape off the mistake, paint over it. If you are working on black cardboard paper, then thick black ink (such as Ziller Soot Black) or dark acrylic paint can be used to correct errors.

Erase mistakes with the Sand Eraser
Tombow produces a sand eraser that is slightly softer on paper than the X-Acto knife. It is suitable for fairly large errors, especially if the ink or paint has not had time to deeply eat into the paper. For example, the image below shows an illustration of a laurel branch that I created. When I was painting, a little watercolor got on my finger, and this watercolor ended up on paper. This is not a very noticeable error, but it bothered me.

Use the X-Acto Knife to scrape off unwanted streaks or ink splatters
X-Acto knives are good for fixing small mistakes. I like to use the point of a knife to pick out tiny ink splatters. You may be able to use it to "erase" parts of letters as well. For example, look at the word "Archival" below, where the "e" is replaced by the letter "c".
