I met up with the Carson Trucking guys to take advantage of a rare sunny winter PNW day and two freshly polished Kenworths.

These are the type of photoshoots that I enjoy the most. No agenda, no timeline, just cool trucks and a big playground.

A great gift from photographing so many different industries is the information I pick up along the day. My photoshoots often feel like a miniature job shadow. I ask questions whenever I can and absorb everything that I see and hear.

One of my most prevailing genres is concrete mixer trucks. I’ve photographed mixer trucks at about a dozen locations across the US and Canada each year, for the past several years.

I’m almost always paired with the most senior driver, or the driver who best maintains their truck. They’re not only mixer drivers, but also concrete enthusiasts. These folks are fired up to tell me all about how the concrete ready mix industry works and how they do it better than the other guy. I’ve gotten a crash course on slump, batch plant inner workings, concrete additives, compressive strength tests, and so much more.

I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the intensity and the meticulous nature of the ready mix business. It almost feels like I could run a mixer myself. Almost.

Dixieland Delight

Debuting at MATS this spring, Discount Dirtworks showed their 2025 Kenworth W900L. EVERYTHING has been modified on this brand new KW – nothing casual about it whatsoever. The result is an insane showpiece that blew me away.

Take a look at all these details. Pinstriping on the fifth wheel, engraved metalwork everywhere in the cab, a completely glass smooth frame. Unbelievable.
