Sights from Action Truck Show this past weekend. It was a fantastic turnout for the second annual show, capturing a broad swath of truck enthusiasts across the northwest region, and their families.

My favorite part of events like this is the community building. Truck drivers are often so busy driving that they rarely get to see each other. A show is the perfect opportunity for everyone to get together and visit.

There was live music, food vendors, sunshine, rain, race cars, and even a bouncy house. And of course, some of the cleanest show trucks and working trucks you’ll ever encounter.

‘Til next year!

You might think that I’d be upset about a rainy forecast for my calendar photoshoot. Quite the opposite! The rain can add some serious moodiness. It was perfect for the dark attitude of this Gotham Ready Mix truck🦇🏙️

Came for the sunset, stayed for the light painting 🔦

I met up with the Carson Trucking guys to take advantage of a rare sunny winter PNW day and two freshly polished Kenworths.

These are the type of photoshoots that I enjoy the most. No agenda, no timeline, just cool trucks and a big playground.

A great gift from photographing so many different industries is the information I pick up along the day. My photoshoots often feel like a miniature job shadow. I ask questions whenever I can and absorb everything that I see and hear.

One of my most prevailing genres is concrete mixer trucks. I’ve photographed mixer trucks at about a dozen locations across the US and Canada each year, for the past several years.

I’m almost always paired with the most senior driver, or the driver who best maintains their truck. They’re not only mixer drivers, but also concrete enthusiasts. These folks are fired up to tell me all about how the concrete ready mix industry works and how they do it better than the other guy. I’ve gotten a crash course on slump, batch plant inner workings, concrete additives, compressive strength tests, and so much more.

I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the intensity and the meticulous nature of the ready mix business. It almost feels like I could run a mixer myself. Almost.
