I grew up on a vegetable farm in the Philippines.
Long before I became a business owner, teacher, entrepreneur, or coach, I was a farmer’s daughter.
My childhood wasn’t filled with smartphones, social media, or business books.

It was filled with planting, harvesting, dusty fields, and learning that life follows seasons.
One of the earliest lessons I learned came from watching my family work the land.

You don’t plant seeds today and expect a harvest tomorrow.
First, you prepare the soil.
Then you plant the seeds.
You water.
You wait.
You work.

And for a long time, it looks like nothing is happening.
But beneath the surface, growth is taking place.
As a child, I didn’t realize I was learning one of the most important business lessons of my life.
Today, I see entrepreneurs make the same mistake over and over again.

They plant the seed on Monday.
And by Friday they’re frustrated because they haven’t seen results.

They launch an offer.
Post a few times online.
Attend a networking event.
Start a business.

Then wonder why success hasn’t arrived yet.
But farming taught me something most people never learn:
The harvest is never the first step.
The harvest is the result of many unseen steps.

Preparation.
Patience.
Consistency.
Faith.

The farmer understands that growth happens underground before it becomes visible above ground.
The same is true in business.
The offer you’re building.
The audience you’re growing.
The reputation you’re creating.
The relationships you’re nurturing.
The results may not be visible yet.

But that doesn’t mean nothing is happening.
Looking back, my entrepreneurial education didn’t begin in a classroom.

It began in a rice field.
And it’s a lesson I’ve carried with me from the Philippines to Seattle, through every season of my life.
