😜At Sunnyside, I make Lemonade out of Lemons
🍋 From Fridge Lemon to Little Lemon Tree, oh, my!
I couldn’t bear to toss a not so fresh lemon from the fridge… so I turned it into a tiny tree instead!
🍃Here’s how you can grow your own lemon tree from a grocery store lemon:
1. Cut open a lemon and gently remove the seeds.
2. Rinse the seeds well to get rid of all the pulp and sticky sugar (this helps prevent mold).
3. Optional but helpful: soak the seeds in water overnight and discard any that float.
4. Plant the seeds about ½ inch deep in moist, well-draining potting mix (a small pot with drainage holes is perfect).
5. Cover the pot with plastic wrap or a clear bag to keep humidity high, and place it in a warm spot (around 70°F).
6. Keep the soil lightly moist. Seeds usually sprout in 2–6 weeks.
7. Once they have a few leaves, give them bright light (a sunny window or grow light) and transplant to a bigger pot as they grow.
It may take several years before it fruits, but the glossy green leaves and the joy of watching something grow from “almost trash” is so worth it!
Drop a 🍋 in the comments if you’re going to try this!

🌼 Zinnias of Sunnyside 🌼

These Zinnias ask for little.
A patch of sunshine, a sip of rain.
In return, they paint the garden
with fearless color;
Welcoming butterflies, Feeding the bees,
reminding us that joy blooms in the simplest places. Like my zinnias, may we stand tall through the heat, bloom after every storm, and brighten someone's day by being exactly who we were created to be.
Plant flowers. Grow hope. Share beauty.
