For some time now, my email has been on a spam black list, not because I spam, but because my email address has been collected and spoofed as a sender. It's made it difficult to send emails from dotmandesign.com. I think I finally got this fixed!

PSA: I got the most convincing looking email this morning explaining how I was hacked & my computer would be taken over if I do not pay somebody $2k through bit coin within 48 hours. I literally get an email like this about 3 to 4 times a week.

This one was pretty convincing: They had an old email/password combo, it looked like they sent it to me from me, it mentions my name, and this one name a particular router vulnerability that it told me to google (which I did, just incase).

It's still fake, but if I didn't know what to look for, I might have started to worry.

Once you get over the initial panic relatively quick googling of it all will lead you to various security articles about why and how these types of email came to be.

Just spent the better part of the last few days having my head in Mail Chimp, Constant Contact, Ticket Leap, WordPress, and server issues. It's all good when it comes together though.

A new client has learned a hard lesson. Make sure your website has a back up system.

They got hacked with some terrible malware. Hosting companies will typically keep about a month's worth of backups, however this has been festering for many months, so that's not an option. They never got the original designs, pictures, etc., so it's a complete loss for them.
