Franklin Lake is more than just a lake, it is a place of beauty, peace, and connection for generations of people that live in and travel to the Northwoods. Its waters and shores have welcomed campers, hikers, anglers, and nature enthusiasts for decades. The lake has given us a place of community, memories, and traditions that carry on through the years.
But TODAY, Franklin Lake needs OUR help. The lake’s ecology is in decline with the walleye and rare inland whitefish are on the verge of extinction. Without action, we risk losing not only the wildlife Franklin Lake is home to, but also future opportunities to experience the lake in ways that bring us back year after year to this special place.
This fundraiser will support vital conservation efforts, including a walleye spawning reef that will rebuild and protect Franklin Lake’s walleye and whitefish populations forever. By coming together as a community, we can give back to the lake that has given so much to us all and make a positive difference.
YOU can make a difference TODAY — every gift, every time you tell a friend/family member about our project, every foundation or business you share our cause with for grant or sponsorship support — ALL helps ensure Franklin Lake’s fish, wildlife, and natural beauty will be protected for future generations.
To read an article about this crucial and important project, read the article linked below. Data gathered by the WDNR from the project will have the goal of creating a blueprint to address the issue of declining walleye populations on lakes across the Northwoods in the future.

Year Goals 🎊🍾✨

My circle ⭕️ is small and mighty, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My peace ✌️ comes from years of removing what no longer serves me: people, situations, and expectations that caused stress or failed to see me for who I truly am. And last night was a powerful reminder of that.

This year, I refuse to be less me.
If the sparkle ✨ and peaceful exuberance don’t fit… 👋

My fifties are shaping up to be the most authentic chapter yet. Letting go of toxic leadership, and corporate nonsense has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I spent too many years being asked to put myself in a box, and it cost me joy and pieces of who I am. Not anymore.

My lane is wider than ever, and I’m excited for what’s unfolding this year and beyond 🌱

May 2026 bring you joy, great health, happiness, and may you find your peace ☮️💛

Good morning, and Merry Christmas! 🎄✨

We had an epic Christmas Eve with the Novak's yesterday—one of those days that settles right into your heart.

In his sermon, Pastor Ty spoke about the heart and compared it to a runner. The more you open it, the more you flex it, the more you use your open heart, the stronger it becomes—and the better you’re able to carry grief. Life is full of joy and grief at the same time; that’s why they call it life.

This year feels different as we all grow older. Our walk to church and down Depot Street has become a tradition. This year, we paused to say a prayer by Miranda’s memory tree. Steve paid homage to Hamburger Charlie, and I took more pictures—always more pictures.

Ryan brought top-choice steaks for the grill, and we had our traditional twice-baked potatoes and seven-layer salad. Later, we surprised Mom with an eggnog toast using Great-Great-Grandma Amanda Bleck’s crystal goblets.

There is so much history in our home. If there’s one thing my parents instilled in me, it’s the importance of history and tradition.

We ended the evening with a nightcap, listening to Dad tell stories of his youth—crazy car bombs, rides in fast cars, and what it was like in the huddle when he was quarterback, planning beer runs.

As I get older, I cherish these moments more than ever and hope I can hold onto them for as long as possible.

Merry Christmas. Enjoy your traditions—and the joy of building new ones. Life is short, and I feel that more than ever today. ❤️
