You Get To…
Ok, I admit it. I’ve been procrastinating lately. A lot. I know I’m not the only one. The lockdowns and lost months have gotten to me and I’ve been struggling. Back in March (hard to remember that long ago…) when the lockdown started, I had big plans.
But I haven’t accomplished as much as I would have liked.
So today, I was writing out my goals for the rest of the year and feeling a lot of resistance. These are things I would usually be excited to accomplish. For those of you that don’t know, I love to write out my goals. It feels amazing to check things off my list.
Today, I just couldn’t get excited.
Instead of pushing it away or fighting through it, I acknowledged it and let myself feel it.
That is exactly what I needed. It allowed me the space to be kind to myself and recognize the feelings for what they are. Disappointment, sadness, frustration and even anger. This year (and especially this week if you’re in the US) has been rough for a lot of us.
But that doesn’t mean we need to finish the year the way it started.
So, I was thinking about how to get through the last few months of 2020 and feel like we’re making progress. Maybe even check things off that list.
I decided to reframe the things I need to do. One of the big things I need to do is get my website finished and live.
So now, instead of have to, or need to- I Get to Finish My Website.
It’s a choice and I’m thankful for it. I get to decide how I finish this year.
I get to decide to check things off my list.
You get to decide too.
What do you get to do?
