We achieved a lot! We applied the string padding and layered padding to the unicorn before moving on to the silk shading on the front leg and the satin stitch on the tail.
I feel a bit mean as I set quite a lot of homework before our next lesson but I know that everyone is well up to the task!

Counted satin stitch in appearance resembles a “set”, but the technique for performing this embroidery is completely different. If in a “set” the entire ornament is revealed as a whole, then in counted satin stitch it is performed in separate elements, and this allows you to introduce threads of different colors.

It doesn’t look like we got a lot done but there was a lot of practising split stitch, satin stitch and long and short stitch to create the lion’s face, tail and leg.
Next time we will concentrate on creating the padded satin stitch of the mane and the decorative outlines.
All the students are doing a fantastic job and I can’t wait to see the progress of their embroidery!
