As the sun sets on the final day of HEARD, we want to give one final shout out to Jake, Nicole, Leah, Matt, and Abbigail as they move on to their next adventures…and thanks to former HEARDsters Tori, Sara, Amanda, Ashley, and Ana (and many more) for all their contributions over the last 8 years. Onward and upward!

A Farewell: Choosing Life When Faced With an Impossible Choice. After eight extraordinary years of amplifying voices, empowering nonprofits, and reshaping the landscape of nonprofit marketing, I am sharing that HEARD Strategy & Storytelling is closing its doors on March 31. This decision comes from a place of necessity, strength, and clarity. With my stage 4 male breast cancer diagnosis, the realization that I could either save HEARD or save myself became unavoidable—and I chose me. It is the hardest choice I've ever made, but it is the right one for this moment in my journey.

HEARD was born in 2017 with a dream to show the world that nonprofits—those fighting for beauty, equity, health, sustainability, education, and justice—deserve marketing that matches their incredible missions. Every email, social campaign, website, and PR partnership was grounded in our unwavering belief that nonprofit stories deserve to be told—and heard—with dignity, excellence, and respect.

Though HEARD's chapter is ending, its impact will continue to echo. Many of our trusted clients will be in excellent hands with my most dedicated lieutenant, Leah, as she launches her own agency, Liora Lane Marketing, alongside our current team of Abby and Matt. As for me, this isn’t the end of my professional journey—just a strategic pivot toward focusing on what matters most: treatment, healing, and meaningful work in either veterans affairs, social justice, or cancer research. I'll also be happily working with a couple of HEARD's PR-only clients as well. To our incredible team, past and present, thank you for your passion and partnership. To our clients, thank you for trusting us with your invaluable stories. To our community, thank you for believing in our mission. Together, we made a difference. Be bold. Be HEARD. Be well. https://www.heardstrategy.com/post/it-was-either-heard-or-me-i-chose-me

As a lean-operating business focused solely on small nonprofits, there’s not a lot left over each month in terms of revenue…so unfortunately there’s no huge holiday bonuses for our staff…but we always try to give the gift of time ❤️. That’s why HEARD will be closed starting today through January 6th to give our hardworking staff the rest and relaxation they so deserve. Don’t worry, our client-facing account managers are still checking email everyday and will respond in kind, but for the most part we’re shut down. Enjoy the break - whatever you celebrate ❤️🫶🙏

At HEARD, we're all about mastering media relations by crafting impactful stories. Within 18 hours, we secured major arts media hits for our new client The Pipes of Christmas with features in The Boston Globe and a 20 minute spotlight on GBH's The Culture Show. These stories both elevated our client's voice while celebrating Scottish/Celtic heritage by honoring HEARD's longtime collaborators, Brian and Lindsay O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn Live. Need PR expertise? Let's amplify your story! https://www.heardstrategy.com/post/celebrating-success-heard-s-impact-in-press-and-media-relations

As we shut down at noon today for the holiday weekend, we're grateful for a lot of things. The people in this pic; the clients that make the pic possible, the people who those clients serve everyday to make the world a better place. We're grateful for all of it and wish a whole bunch of abundance on you and yours. ❤️🫶

Happy HEARDiversary to all who celebrate! A lot has happened for HEARD in our first seven years... It's been quite a journey since Jake brought this vision to life back in 2017. Who would've thunk that a passion for storytelling could spark such a revolution in nonprofit marketing, design, and communications? From day one, we've been on a mission to do things differently, to show the world that nonprofits deserve top-notch marketing just as much as any Fortune 500 company.

Our team has grown and shrunk, and grown, and shrunk, and with each new face, we've added new dimensions to our storytelling capabilities. We've got a whole crew of talented folks: Jake, Leah, Matt, and Abbigail - each bringing their unique flavor to the mix.

And our clients? Where to even begin? We've had the extreme privilege of working with such a diverse bunch. From arts and culture organizations that make every corner of the world more beautiful, to environmental groups fighting the good fight for our planet, to healthcare nonprofits, education initiatives, and social justice warriors. We've had a front-row seat to all the good happening in the world.

Seven years... it feels like both a lifetime and a blink of an eye. We've grown, we've learned, we've celebrated victories big and small. The nonprofit world is ever-evolving, and so are we. Here's to the next bunch of years crafting narratives, building movements, and making sure every important story gets HEARD. Onward and upward!
