My name is Benji Goossen and I love graphic design, 3D modeling, adorable dogs, I am absolutely miserable at speaking Russian, and I love to help others.

My name is Ben Goossen and put simply I like to make beautiful things. I love to design unique letterforms, take pictures, code, or work with fine carpentry. I am currently a student at John Brown University exploring the many facets of my creativity. This is a place that I plan on publishing a lot of this to from all sorts of different genres. tiny blocks.
When I was designing this project I was STUCK. No good ideas. While procrastinating on it I visited my grandparents and found myself enamoured by the building blocks that were meant for the great grandkids. I would sit there and build shapes, or spell things with the limited letters. THIS was what I was trying to do. So naturally I stole the idea and just made it tiny. Some designing, laser printing, and testing later here we have it: tiny blocks.

I finally got a chance to shoot studio photos of this project. Even though I made this two years ago I am still so proud of it. It's a showstopping branding play that makes people pause, break away from their screen, and build something with their hands.

The old site used a difficult to navigate side menu that kept users from easily seeing product categories, and the various educational elements of the site. We reorganized the hierarchy, and built a beautiful drop down menu with some delicious animations. Jeremy Shellhorn contributed some organic illustrations to finish it all off!

Óleo Serra Grande is a new business seeking to impact the local area of Serra Grande, Brazil. In this area are thousands of abandoned Babacu coconuts that fall to the ground, unused by the local population. Óleo Serra Grande creates valuable oil from these coconuts creating jobs with the very little overhead. Through this, Óleo Serra Grande can have a lasting impact on the welfare of the local families and build relationships with them.
The client approached me needing packing for the oil bottle to give strong identification and professionalism to the brand in the local marketplace. This required a flexible branding system that could stretch across the oil bottle labels and future products like soaps.

A good dinner burger is hard to beat. This is a style so bold it is hard to miss. It is characterized by neon lights, shiny metal and repeating squiggly patterns.

This design era has developed from the Bauhaus and can be characterized by structure, sans-serif fonts, and pops of color. If you ever need a sans-serif font, Avenir by Adrian Frutiger is stellar.

This Midcentury movement can be characterized unique furniture, geometric shapes, and cartoon characters.

This movement is characterized by descending repetition, gold lines, and cityscapes with spotlights. Art Deco is Batman's sidekick right after Robin.

Purism is based off of the Cubism movement of the early 1900s. Purism, however, intended to reach perfection. It is characterized by harmonious, and smooth shapes existing inside a mixed 2D and 3D space.
