Allow me to introduce myself!
Hi, I’m Rhonda!
I’m a native New Orleanian with a love for reading, theater, and traveling. I graduated from the great John F. Kennedy High School and attended Loyola University for two years before joining the U.S. Army. Today, I am a 23-year U.S. Army veteran with a BA in Communication Studies from the University of Maryland University College, an MA in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and a Doctorate in Business with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University. I am also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., the Order of the Eastern Star, the New Orleans Regional Black Chamber of Commerce, Amnesty International, and the National Association of Black Journalists.
📷I am a champion of all things literary, having written five novels and contributed to 10 anthologies, including the groundbreaking The Color of Strength: Embracing the Passion of Our Culture, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.’s Keeping It Finer: What it Means to be a Finer Woman in the 20th Century. Additionally, I founded the New Movement Book Club and the Divine Literary Tour. Most recently, I also founded Horizons literary talk show, the Black History Month Literary Weekend and the New Orleans Literary Takeover.
I know it sounds like a lot, but my mission has always been to help increase the literacy rate and to make reading fun again. As we used to chant in my JROTC class at Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, Texas, “If it is to be, it’s up to me!” I refuse to sit around and pontificate on what someone should do, when I can be that somebody! This is why I remain active in my community, even when that community is a military installation, a village in Europe, or even a social media group.
