Before and after pics of an install we just recently did. We got rid of an outdated network and replaced it with a very clean, up-to-date Ubiquity system with a Synology NAS as well. Secure and Redundant. Yeah, there's a cable or two that need a little rerouting, but what a work of art! Big thanks to Rod Leach for his assistance!

This message just got through my pretty rigorous spam/malware filter because the email address is legitimate and it shows up as a pretty legit email at a glance. But if you look closely, how many things can you find wrong with it?

Data breaches are becoming more and more common. And this is precisely why unique passwords for all your accounts is an absolute necessity!

Picture this scenario- You have an account on MyFaceSpace and you set the password to be ilovepuppies1985, the same password you use for your other 25 accounts. MyFaceSpace has a data breach and your user data is compromised including your email address, password and perhaps even your phone. Now let's take this a bit further- What if this is the same information you used on your other accounts? You've just given over access to a pretty large portion of your life.

As daunting as this may seem, this is not all that complicated. Anyone who has a PayPal, Microsoft, Bank or other secure account where having complete security, proper precautions are a MUST.

A great way to to thwart breaches and mitigate the damage is by getting a password manager. I use LastPass (https://lastpass.com). It's free for one device. See the screenshots in this post. This tool is an extension in your browser. You need 1 master password and that's it. As long as your logged in, you simply click the icon that appears on your login fields and that's it! You can set up multifactor authentication and much more. Each password can be up to 99 randomly generated characters. There are some really great password managers available other than LastPass, so be sure to do your homework and choose what works best for you. There's so much more to these programs, but I would highly recommend using one.

There are so many ways to protect your online information, but this is a great start and it's free!

If you solely depend on your page for sales, remember this: You do not own your content. If you don't have a backup of your content, it's at risk of disappearing. Social Media is the equivalent of Digital Sharecropping. Facebook owns. You just rent. And you can be evicted at the owner's whim.
