Did you know that over HALF of the 11 million people who tune in to watch the Superbowl every year are not watching because of football?
Half a century into its history, the Super Bowl is not just about watching a football game or gathering with family and friends, to eat and drink. It’s also about the commercials!
So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that while 45% of those gathering to watch the Super Bowl still name the game itself as their top priority, close to one in four Americans watch the spectacle for the commercials in between the passes and touchdowns.
Why is it that a televised event that attracted over 100 million viewers in 2020 gets so much attention? HINT…it is not just about the football. Last year, more than 1 in 4 watched the big game solely to watch the famously creative commercials. I’ll say that again – over 25 million people tuned in to a football game for the purpose of being entertained by commercials.
So, what makes these commercials so special?
Superbowl commercials (the good ones, anyway) are exciting. They are bold and brash. They are daring and funny. Sometimes, they are controversial.
