A Tribute to the great Richard Norton . . . who left us way too early!

R.I.P. GM Richard Norton- A True Martial Arts Pioneer & Action Cinematic Star!

It is with profound sadness that I write to honor the remarkable life of Richard Norton.

His passing has left an immense void in our martial arts community and in the hearts of all who knew him.

Richard Norton was not just a martial arts movie star – he was a visionary who helped bridge Eastern and Western fighting traditions long before it became commonplace.

As one of the pioneering Western martial artists to gain international acclaim, Richard's extraordinary career spanned decades, during which he shared the screen with luminaries like Jackie Chan, Chuck Norris, Cynthia Rothrock and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Beyond his cinematic achievements, Richard was a true grandmaster whose technical expertise and philosophical understanding of martial arts inspired generations.

Many of us in this group were fortunate enough to experience his teachings firsthand, whether through seminars, training sessions, or simply through conversations where he generously shared his wisdom.

His beloved wife Judy remains with us, carrying forward Richard's legacy.

Their partnership was a beautiful example of mutual respect and shared purpose. Judy's unwavering support was the foundation upon which Richard built his extraordinary career, and our hearts go out to her, his family and worldwide fans during this difficult time.

Richard's legacy lives on in all of us who were touched by his kindness, inspired by his dedication, and transformed by his teachings.

As we gather here in this digital space to honor his memory, let us remember not just what he accomplished, but how he lived – with integrity, passion, and profound respect for the martial traditions he cherished.

May we carry forward the spirit of excellence and community that Richard embodied, keeping his memory alive through our own practice and teachings.
