Dear Smithville, Bastrop and Austin friends,
My wife and I are working on a photo project highlighting the stories of people that have suffered devastating loss and are learning to thrive. If you or someone you know has experienced the loss of a child, a home, a beloved pet, a spouse, a parent, or even a loss of physical or mental health, or the loss of an important object like a wedding ring or family heirloom, or something else I haven’t listed, we would like to commemorate your story of thriving or even just surviving amidst the pain.
The plan is to shoot one picture that tells the story that includes the person that has lost something meaningful to them and an object that represents the loss. We will do one photo per topic with an off camera interview and we will choose the subjects carefully. In exchange for participating I will print the final work and frame it for you to keep. The work will be one of hope that doesn’t gloss over the pain. Once complete, all of these stories will be told in a gallery show.
