- Your bank account or,
- Where you reside.

Leadership has nothing to do with any that!

Leadership is all about one life inspiring and motivating another to become the very best version of themselves. Being in a leadership position doesn’t mean others want to follow you. You have to earn it, work for it, be an active participant, and take responsibility for what you do and say because you set the tone for others to follow.

As John Quincy Adams puts it, “if your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.”

What makes you a leader worth following?

Your position on the org chart doesn't make you a leader. Your title doesn't make you a leader. Leadership has nothing to do with your social status, your bank account, or where you reside. It's all about one life inspiring and motivating another to become the very best version of themselves.

Some people fall into the trap of believing that having a title automatically makes them a person worth following. On the contrary, you have to earn it, work for it, be an active participant, and take responsibility for what you do and say because as the leader, you have to set the tone, and you have to be the example for people to follow.

Now do an audit of your leadership and ask yourself:

- Am I the kind of leader I would follow?
- Am I inspiring my team to become the very best version of themselves?

In leadership, the real state of your leadership character always surfaces during a crisis. People who hide behind the veil of deception can only fake for so long because a crisis always shows their real characteristics.

Authentic leadership always begins with the inner person, according to John Maxwell. The character of a leader will filter into the entire organization because a great character will create the potential for a great organization. But, it all begins with the leader’s heart and their genuine concerns for everyone in their organization.

There are many so-called leaders whose only concern is their self-preservation at the expense of their team during these very challenging times. You can only fake for so long, and these challenges have revealed to many people the real character of their leader.

That's the fundamental difference between a leader and a manager; You must be willing to pay the price of leadership if you want the perks of leadership, according to John Maxwell.

As a leader, create a culture where your people are inspired to create great ideas, where the dreamers are encouraged to dream big dreams. Live your purpose by serving others; continually inspire your team to become the very best version of themselves because ultimately, it will lift the organization to a higher level of performance.
