Advertising is not a science—the same tactics that perform well for some will do poorly for others. But, there are some consistencies.

Ad campaigns that WORK are often memorable in some way, either through a jingle (ask a Chicagoan about Moo & Oink), interesting story, celebrity involvement, or catchy tag line. But how can we apply that to digital advertising?

By creating unique, memorable creative, and getting in front of our target audience often enough to leave an impression. That’s how.

That doesn’t mean you need to pay a fortune for videography or write a song nobody will forget: but it does often mean getting outside of your comfort zone, and if you’re running your own business AND marketing, that can be difficult to do.

This is NOT a sponsored post (not that we’re too good for that—get at us, brands 🤑—mostly because we couldn’t tell you who made them. BUT, if your business is brick-and-mortar, we do recommend dropping a few dollars (and that’s literally all they were) to pick up some of these NFC/QR code signs for social media and Google reviews.

Google reviews can be vital for local search and SEO, and we’ve talked about the benefits of social media many times. Having a passive way to ask customers to follow or review you doesn’t necessarily replace other means of earning followers or reviews…but, it doesn’t hurt, either.

And as a bonus, we found some (again, VERY affordable) that use both QR codes and NFC, which can be managed online. Since there’s no power, there are no batteries in to replace, and if you update your social profiles later on, you can change the links via the online profile.

As a Xennial I saw Terminator 2 at far too young of an age, and ever since have had a healthy skepticism of artificial intelligence. Yes, AI is likely to bring about the end of us someday….but in the meantime, we all have businesses to run, right? 🤑

And AI is, for better or worse, something that business owners can’t afford to ignore.

That doesn’t mean we are advocating for you to go out and use AI on your website or to create a flyer (please….staaaahp 🛑)—but it does mean optimizing your website, Google Business Profile, and social media profile so that AI can surface your business when folks are looking for something in your niche.

We know this is a whole new world for business owners, and so we’ve created a free AI/local search optimization whitepaper, live in our blog now, as a starting place for understanding optimization for AI, why it’s important, and some initial steps to take to begin optimizing for AI-based search.

Please join us in supporting our friends at Youth Empowered for a fundraising yard sale right across the walkway from us at 320 Alisal Road. Proceeds from the event and 50% of Paul and Me 's sales will benefit Youth Empowered Fitness and Education Center, an amazing nonprofit (and client!) providing access to workout equipment, fitness classes, and educational resources for the young'ins here in the Valley.

It all goes down this Saturday and Sunday from 8am-1pm. Come support a wonderful cause & go home with stuff you didn't own before—sounds like a heck of a way to spend a little time this weekend, doesn't it?
