Over the weekend, one of my clients from Saint Joseph High School informed me that a piece we had created together, the Welcome Guide for new families, was awarded a "Silver" by Inspired School Marketers. What an honor! I am excited for my client to receive this recognition.

Recently, I had the opportunity to create new brand identity and retractable banner for the BRITE Women Project for Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business. BRITE Stands for Board Readiness Initiative To Empower, which is a new effort to empower women to serve on nonprofit boards. Their first event sold out in just a few days. Are you a woman desiring to serve on a nonprofit board but don't know how to get started in this direction? Here is a series of wordmarks done for a client celebrating their 60th year in business. When interviewing the client about their needs, we determined that they would like both an understated and celebratory lockup to use at their discretion. The "CGS" was an existing mark and my job was to integrate 60 years plus their tagline with the CGS.

Found out this week that one of the publications I design for Notre Dame, NDWorks, received a Silver CASE award.

Judges stated:
NDWorks is a really well-executed publication. Notre Dame does a lot with its resources and is successful with a modest approach. We liked how user-friendly the publication is and how effectively it communicates university priorities to faculty and staff in an engaging, news-you-can-use way. A smaller budget used very well. The profiles are well done and artfully chosen to feature optimal community diversity and breadth. The nomination form admirably made the case for why the publication is needed in print form for those employees who lack access to a computer and don’t work at a desk all day. NDWorks is very successful at making the case for university employees to be informed advocates for the institution while enhancing their sense of community and affinity. Clearly this is a communication that is done strategically with great care and hard work. Bravo!

Putting this publication together is truly a team effort and I loved working with the Internal Communications staff at Notre Dame on this issue.

NDWorks is the newspaper for the University of Notre Dame faculty/staff.

You are invited to a performance by New Industry Dance called "Sensorimotor" happening April 25-28. I am so grateful to be able to collaborate with the talented artistic dance director Chloé Ilene in creating designs for this upcoming event. Grant Beachy's photography is simply stunning and makes my job of designing these pieces (posters, handouts and programs) a true pleasure. Want to learn more about New Industry Dance? Check out their website (and buy tickets to "Sensorimotor") at newindustrydance.org.

What does a graphic designer do in her free time, you ask?

Recently, I’ve discovered a love for watercolor painting. This has been a wonderful way to blow off steam after a particularly stressful, deadline-driven day. Here are a few examples of recent pieces I’ve enjoyed creating.

This year I had the pleasure of collaborating with the Director of Marketing and Communications at Stanley Clark School in South Bend, to create their viewbook. Part of the collaboration included touring the school to learn about how students are taught how to think critically, excel in four main "pillars" and to mentor and empower others. Check out their website at stanleyclark.org.
