I typically look forward to the Superbowl; I am excited to watch it this year, but honestly, the whole season has been somewhat disappointing. I know many are aware I am a huge Patriots fan, Tom Brady leaving, deep down, probably still not over it. Tom Brady playing in the Superbowl in Bucs uniform; does it hurt? Yea, a little.
The whole season was just odd—no fans or, in some cases, a few, piped in noise; just strange. Looking back, it wasn't so much TB12 had left; truthfully, we knew the day was coming, CV19 was the true QB of the season. Sports overall was remanded with no defense, sacking the season for fans.
I am annoyed at the mere suggestion; perhaps Bill Belichick was not the coach we thought he was; it was all TB12 all along. Some even convinced he was a mediocre coach who lucked out with the GOAT. I am not one of them. Their 20-year relationship endured many highs and a few challenges and have six rings to prove; it worked. A player has to be willing to be coached; I think TB12 would even tell you that. I do believe in the end; it was the Superbowl of egos that had them parting ways.
What will the 2021 Season look like? Who knows, it feels as though everything has become so polar political, one can only guess what the year will bring. I do long for the days of a team; 70's and 80's Red Sox when at the end of the season you knew Jim Rice would be back, no question. Fenway Park was an experience, The curse of Babe Ruth would hopefully end that year. Each new season filled the hearts of Red Sox fans with hope that this would be our year! I don't just see the ball going through Bill Buckner's legs; I feel it. I still see Gary Carter jumping for joy as much as I did when Dave Henderson's two-out, two-strike top of the ninth homer in game five.
We can only pray that TB12 does not New England's curse.
