Just arrived in Fayetteville, AR for a site visit with a great client - Hoyt Perry at H. Perry Jewelers. Really looking forward to working with him and his staff this week.
As the Holidays draw near, several of our clients have been excitedly working to establish relationships with their fellow merchants - those who serve the same types of people our clients do, but with noncompeting products/services. In each and every case, the outreaches have demonstrated remarkable effectiveness in years past, have ZERO up front cost, and no cost at all until AFTER they work!
These are the closest things to "silver bullets" or "magic beans" we've ever seen in the Marketing universe. Just sayin'...

I have been SO neglectful of this page. I am sorry! This is "crunch time" for us. Many of our clients are retailers, so from Labor Day to Hallowe'en we press quite hard to get certain systems and principles firmly established and "up & running" in their businesses - Like a solid add-on & up selling system, gift card exchanges with joint venture partners, etc. It's exciting, but it takes a good bit of time. In fact, I have never seen anything closer to a "magic bullet" in retail like this Holiday gift card exchange. It can be AMAZING, with ZERO up front cost!
Our recruiting takes on a new level of urgency too, because we want so desperately to help as many retailers as possible take advantage of these and other powerfully profitable concepts!
Despite the strengthening economy, many "brick & mortar" retailers are still struggling. It often feels like I'm watching them drown. I have a life preserver in my hand and I want to throw it to them, but they tell me not too... "My arms are too busy trying to keep my head above water. I wouldn't be able to grab it even if you did throw it..."

My goodness time flies! I promised to finish that last post & this is the first chance I've had to get back to it. Sorry!!
So - In asking this lady why a realtor or homeowner should hire her, she mentioned a bunch of stats about how homes sell faster and for a higher percentage of asked price when staged properly, but she couldn't quote sources...
I advised her to do a bit of research and gather rock solid facts from respected industry sources that she could quote. Then I advised her to use those in her introductions, like:
"How would you like to be able to sell homes in, on average, half the time and for a much higher percentage of the asking price?"
We covered a lot more ground than that, but it was fun to feel her excitement build as we talked.

Conducted a free Marketing Fitness Check-up with a lady who just started a Home Staging business in Mississippi (yes, she attended my presentation to their Chamber of Commerce last week.)
She is puzzled over how to get a warmer response from the real estate agencies she contacts. I advised her to broadcast her messages on WIIFM - everyone's FAVORITE radio station! In case you're wondering, WIIFM stands for "What's in it for ME?" and it really is everyone's favorite. EVERY human being listens to it all the time, and we respond to messages broadcast on that frequency...

Just wrapping up a week-long visit to Carter's Jewelry in Petal, MS.
Chae Carter and her crew are dedicated to excellence, beauty, and value in all aspects of their business.
We spent a LOT of time this week learning how to gain understanding of what their customers are really trying to do - focusing, first and foremost, on them and their loved ones, before even thinking about products..
Chae also lent me to Petal's Chamber of Commerce, and we had a GREAT discussion on Marketing Principles and how to apply them in a small business. They scheduled us for 2 full hours, and we could have gone another one at least.
It's been a great week, Chae! Glad we could make it happen. We're looking forward to big and exciting things for you and your team.
