Hey guys, little experiment: I wanted to see if the same principles I learned in DaVinci Resolve would work in Premiere Pro using adjustment layers like nodes. And I’m really liking what I’m seeing. What’s crazy is how much my eyes have changed over these past 5 to 6 weeks. When I look back at footage I graded before, everything looks washed out and flat now. I naturally see the world vibrant, that’s just how my eyes work, but getting that to come across in video has been the hard part. Slowly getting the hang of it. And honestly I’m excited because this means I’m not locked into one program. Premiere is home for me, so knowing the principles carry over? Love me down. Yes, I forgot to clean my lens before this one. We’re just gonna let that be part of the story. 😭

Things I learned on San Juan Island: orcas are actually the largest member of the dolphin family, each pod has its own dialect passed down through generations, and the Southern Residents of the Salish Sea are endangered, with fewer than 80 left. The sea itself is named for the Coast Salish peoples, who have known and honored these whales for thousands of years. And this year? A new calf was born. Went for the photos, stayed for the history.

I planned a whole intro and forgot my own name. Anyway, hi, I’m Simone. 😭 The color grade was the only thing that showed up prepared. Say hi so this isn’t awkward for both of us.

The calm before every shoot: gospel, coffee, then the playlist takes a turn to R&B next thing you know I’m GETTING MY WHOLE LIFE and dancing. 😭 This ritual is how I get ready, every single time.

What y’all doing before a shoot, music or silence👀

Got a new ND filter and took it out for a spin this weekend. Shot eight clips. Liked one. This is it. I’m still figuring out what my settings should be when it’s bright outside, and I’m still learning what makes a shot actually feel cinematic instead of just recorded. Posting this one anyway.

Open to any suggestions or YouTube videos to help with this.
