I think this might be one of the most overlooked skills in business.
Owning a business is an emotional rollercoaster.
Some days I wake up and everything feels aligned. The work feels good, my clients feel aligned, the direction of my business feels clear. I’m confident, decisive, and excited about where everything is going.
And then… other days, it’s like a switch flips.
Same business. Same work. Same path.
But suddenly everything feels heavy. I start questioning decisions, overthinking small things, convincing myself nothing is working the way it should.
It’s such a drastic shift for something that, logically, hasn’t actually changed overnight.
And I’m starting to realize… neither version of me is fully telling the truth.
The high days can make everything feel bigger and better than it is.
The low days can make everything feel worse and more permanent than it is.
But both are just temporary states.
So instead of riding every high and crashing with every low, I’ve been trying to stay somewhere in the middle. More neutral. More steady.
Because the longer I can stay in that place, the clearer I think. The better I lead. The more consistent my business actually becomes.
It’s not as exciting as the highs, and it’s not as consuming as the lows… but I’m starting to think it’s where the real growth happens.
And honestly, learning how to stay steady might be one of the most important skills I build as a business owner.
