It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our long-term designers, Chad H. Alvarez. Chad had been an invaluable resource even when he was unable to accept a project he still offered creative guidance and technical advice.

Multi-talented, he worked as a PHP developer and systems administrator with equal amounts of talent in logo branding, graphic design, user-interface architecture, and interactive gaming.

In one of our last private conversations, he shared why he felt blockchain gaming opportunities like Axie Infinity were valuable to the Filipino economy and had high hopes that other venture opportunities would follow with outstanding graphics, enjoyable gameplay, and revenue earning opportunities. He loved tech education and the open-source software community that gave him the flexibility to build and create under his own brand, A Nerd's Mind. He so often shared links to free software or learning materials as he was forever learning something new.

His friendship, talent, and openness to teaching will surely be missed. We extend our continued prayers and condolences to his wife, Juvy, and their family.

Also, the most important takeaway is Chad would want you to get vaccinated for Covid-19 as that was his last message to us.

Thank you, and RIP Chad.

I would add marketing companies to this list. I have always encouraged clients to register their own domain names. I give advice on what companies to use for the best service and price but would prefer not to do this. The few times I have done it, I was either on the phone or in the customer's presence and all details were in the client's name. Then I told the client to change the password later and don't rely on me to retrieve it because I am not saving it. There is no one but the site owner who needs access to this area. I have even told a client whose marketing company was pressuring them for access not to give it. Tell them to send instructions on what they want updated. More than likely, it is a change needed on the website hosting level not the domain registrar which is why I don't have clients domain registrations with the same company for website hosting. Good advice.

Another business says it lost its domain to a web developer. I know I’ve written about this many times, but if these stories prevent just one legal issue then it’s worth it. Please, don’t give your web developer full access to your domain name registrar account. Yesterday, a web site owner in ...
