Here's a little lesson for you designers out there that maybe either didn't have formal schooling (I did not) or just didn't pick this up yet.
Format is not .jpg/.tif/.png et cetera. That is the "extension" of the file. It has little to do with the format.
Format is raster (flat image made of pixels) or vector (made of lines).
Vector is correct for production. If you work in raster, make sure you START your project at a far larger resolution (we have used DPI for decades, recently the geeks have decided that PPI is more correct so they're interchangeable) than you think you need. Otherwise you may fall short for production, and you cannot increase resolution of a raster once it is created. You can make more pixels, but the pixelation/rough edges will remain.
Evidently the geeks want me to say "pixilation" now as well.
