The response from our community for Cpl. Vester Hicks, Jr. and his family has been tremendous. Thank you to everyone who has reached out, shared our posts, offered to participate, and asked how they can help honor this young soldier. β€οΈπ€π
We now have additional information for Fridayβs final journey.
ποΈπΊπΈ MOTORCYCLE RIDERS / PATRIOT ES**RT
Our motorcycle riders will be joining together to provide a Patriot es**rt for Cpl. Hicks on his final journey from Wyandotte to Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
π We are grateful that the Michigan State Police will es**rt the procession from the Wyandotte city limits to Great Lakes National Cemetery.
The planned route will be:
π Czopek Funeral Home β Wyandotte
β‘οΈ Oak Street
β‘οΈ Fort Street North
β‘οΈ I-75 North
β‘οΈ Great Lakes National Cemetery β Holly
π The procession departs Czopek Funeral Home at 11:00 AM.
Motorcycle riders wishing to pay their respects and join the es**rt along the route are welcome to do so. ποΈπΊπΈ

πΊπΈ WYANDOTTE & DOWNRIVER β LETβS LINE FORT STREET WITH AMERICAN FLAGS! πΊπΈ
For our community members, families, veterans, organizations, and businesses who have asked how they can participate, this is how we can give Cpl. Hicks a farewell from his hometown that his family will never forget.
We are asking everyone who is able to line northbound Fort Street on the EAST SIDE of the roadway holding American flags as the procession travels north. πΊπΈπΊπΈπΊπΈ
π’ Businesses along Fort Street: Please display your American flags proudly Friday morning. If your employees are able, we would be honored to have them step outside with flags as the procession passes.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Families & community members: Bring your children. Bring your neighbors. Bring an American flag and find a safe place along the east side of northbound Fort Street.
πΊπΈ Veterans & veteran organizations: Bring your Post, your colors, and your flags.
Cpl. Hicks was just 17 years old when he was Killed in Action during the Korean War. After more than 75 years, he has finally returned home to Michigan.
Friday, he will travel through his hometown one final time.
Letβs make Fort Street a sea of red, white, and blue. πΊπΈβ€οΈπ€ππΊπΈ
When his family looks out from that procession, let them see an entire community standing with them.
And when Cpl. Hicks leaves Wyandotte for the final time, let every American flag along that road carry the same message:
