I’ve heard from a few families who never received molds from the hospital, and I’ve been trying to come up with ways to help them still create something meaningful for their baby. 👼
In honor of the anniversary of My Angel Prints—officially an LLC in December 2021—I’m introducing a new tool for families. I put together a website, currently running on my Raspberry Pi 5, where you can upload an ink print and quickly generate a simple 3D model you can use for ornaments or other keepsakes. The baby name field is optional, and I added a few font choices that I hope feel fun… but my brain works like a boring engineer, so forgive me if they’re not cute enough. 🤣
If you want to try it out:
You’ll need a fairly clean scan of the black-and-white ink print, but there are sliders you can adjust if the model doesn’t look quite right at first. I’m hopeful this will help some families create something meaningful. My printers are currently tied up making molds, so I’m hoping you might know someone with a 3D printer who can help bring these to life.
On my home network, this runs pretty fast, but over the internet it may take a few seconds after hitting “generate” before the download shows up. Thank you for your patience, and thank you for supporting My Angel Prints these past years.
