I don't like fads and trends. They're usually just hyped up styles and colors that the fashion and cosmetics industries use to get us to buy buy buy. What makes these trends and fashion habits particularly annoying is that they totally depart from the ideals of personal empowerment and good design. In fact, they can often be disempowering, unbalanced, contribute to problems within gender relations, and in other ways hijack our goals of living freely and intentionally without being manipulated by sneaky marketing. Ooooh getting ready to launch another co-op session Monday at my shop on CleanBeautyDirect.com -I run a monthly Co-op for my Private Label collection of cosmetics and skincare products that are checked personally by me to be technically great colors for cool skin tones (which accounts for 90% of human population, but is underrepresented with the bronzer/yellow/peach obsessed industry)... makes a difference to wear technically right colors.

These two vases in blue turquoise and royal blue have something in common with 90% of people- they’re both cool toned. Guess what else? I bet if you put a shirt on of one of these colors, you’ll look and feel amazing in it. Try it out and let me know sometime. (Note: if you’re wearing the wrong tone makeup, you will not look and feel amazing... so might need to get some right colored makeup too.)

Do you think fashion designers are concerned with making sure you actually look great? Not really!

They don’t even pay attention to the principles of what certain colors do to people’s skin-tone (like why that orange sweater makes you look anemic) and how certain cuts of clothes distort your figure from being a pleasing hour-glass (which is the desirable look for women)... in short, they’re just selling you the latest hot trends.

Wouldn’t it be better to know how to put together a timeless, elegant look? I think so. You actually end up saving a lot of time and money when you learn how to have your own look and stop chasing all the trends and fads.
