Honestly, I don’t use trial reels in the “traditional” sense, but they are still an important part of my monthly strategy. Here’s what I do, and why you should be implementing it too ⬇️
1️⃣ Once you’ve edited a reel together, duplicate it before posting it to your feed. If you’re using Edits to create reels, you don’t have to worry about this step since the reel will always be in your drafts.
2️⃣ If time permits, I usually try to give the original reel about a week to perform before I make tweaks to the duplicate. Do yourself a favor and pick EASY things to tweak! Some examples might be trying a different trending audio, making an adjustment to the screen text, updating some keywords in your caption, etc. At the very least I usually swap out some hashtags (yes, I still use them most of the time lol)
3️⃣ Post the duplicate as a trial reel and leave it there FOREVER! Instagram is going to try to trick you to share it to your feed... DON’T DO IT! Trial reels are specifically pushing your content to people who don’t follow you, and that is the exact audience I want it to reach.
Now I don’t do this with every single reel that I make, but I do try to repost at least a few reels each month to trial reels just to make sure I’m getting the best content in front of new people.
Now it’s your turn! Happy posting! 🤳
