Media release from the City of Spokane. Visit Spokane, City of Spokane partner to attract film production and drive economic development.

Visit Spokane and the City of Spokane are partnering to attract more film, television, commercial production, and other creative-industry opportunities to Spokane. This partnership will strengthen the region’s economy, while showcasing the Lilac City as a destination for production and events.
As part of this partnership, Visit Spokane has hired Luis Mota as Director of Film & Event Development, creating a dedicated point of contact for production companies, event organizers, and other industry partners interested in bringing their projects to Spokane.

Mota brings more than 20 years of experience in the touring, venue management, and entertainment industries. In his new role, he will lead efforts to identify and recruit film and television productions, as well as major events. He will also build relationships with industry decision makers and promote Spokane’s locations and workforce.

“We are thrilled to welcome Luis Mota as the new Director of Film & Event Development,” said Visit Spokane President and CEO Rose Noble. “His expertise and passion for the creative industries will be instrumental in elevating Spokane as a premier destination for film production and events. This new role underscores our commitment to fostering growth through the creative economy and showcasing the unique assets our region offers.”

Mota will work closely with the City of Spokane’s Community and Economic Development Division to coordinate with producers and navigate City processes. This partnership combines Visit Spokane’s tourism and industry relationships with the City’s economic development expertise and ability to coordinate local resources.

Together, the agencies will work to position Spokane to compete for productions and events that bring outside dollars into the local economy, create jobs, and generate business for hotels, restaurants, venues, retailers, and other local business.

“Throughout my legislative career, I have worked to advance film incentives because I have seen firsthand the economic impact productions can have on communities. Film and television create jobs, support local businesses, and bring outside investment into our economy,” Mayor Lisa Brown said. “I am grateful for this partnership with Visit Spokane to grow our creative economy even deeper.”
