Thinking about running Google Ads yourself?
We get it. Google makes it look easy.
✅ Pick some keywords
✅ Set a budget
✅ Click launch
And boom—your campaign is live in 30 minutes.
But here’s what most entrepreneurs don’t realize:
Google’s default settings are built to help you spend money—Not necessarily to make it back.
If you’re going to run ads yourself, at least start with a solid foundation:
✅ Go through Google Skillshop (it’s free)
✅ Take the certifications—not for the badge, but for the system knowledge
✅ Actually learn what things like “maximize conversions” really mean
(Spoiler: Google will spend your entire budget—whether or not it finds a conversion.)
One of the most expensive mistakes I see?
🚨 Founders setting a $100/day budget
🚨 Assuming Google will optimize around performance
It won’t.
If the algorithm can’t find a conversion today, it will still spend your $100.
And that’s how you end up with $100+ CPLs… without realizing it.
Here’s the truth:
You should learn enough to be dangerous.
Know the difference between a setting and a strategy.
But don’t try to run it solo forever.
Eventually, something else in the business will pull your attention.
And three months later, your ads will still be running—with zero oversight.
💸 Advertising is not something only the founder can do.
🧠 You can delegate it. You should delegate it.
If you're spending money—make sure it’s not being wasted.
