This Friday, September 4, two absolutely incredible albums see release -- Arms & Armour's The Hunted and Strange Bird's Little Victories.

Emerging from the industrial Mecca that is Cleveland and recording in their studio housed in a 140-year-old drill bit factory, Arms & Armour creates a doom wash of guttural noise, guitar groans, synth colorations, drone measures, and repetitive drums that is perfect for fans of Chelsea Wolfe, Swans, PJ Harvey and the like.

For anyone who has followed independent music over the last three decades, Brandon Butler's name may already be familiar. He was a founding member of the influential Kansas City band Boys Life before later playing in Canyon and The Farewell Bend. Along the way he also developed a darker, more stripped-down voice through his solo country and singer-songwriter work. Strange Birds doesn't revisit any of those bands so much as carry forward the same instinct that connected them: write honest songs, play them loud, and leave the rest alone.
