A lot of business owners think they have a marketing problem.

Marketing can get people through the door.

One of my clients recently added photography onto their content session. Instead of planning a separate photo shoot, we captured both in the same session. Saving them time while enhacing their creative assets.

So while we captured reels and b-roll, we also refreshed their photo library with images they can use on their website, marketing materials, Google Business Profile, social media, and more.

That's one of my favorite things about offering photo, video, and content.

You don't always need another shoot day. Sometimes you just need to get more from the one you've already planned.

Hot take: Most businesses aren't bad at content. They're just creating it without a strategy.

I talk to business owners all the time who are investing real money into marketing. Photography. Video. Social media management. Design. Software, yet they still feel like their content isn't working.

The problem often isn't the content itself. It's that nobody stopped to ask:

- What is this content supposed to do?
- Is it attracting new clients?
- Building trust with potential customers?
- Keeping your business top of mind until someone is ready to buy?

Those are three completely different goals. They require different messages, different content, and different approaches.

Without a strategy, content becomes a guessing game. With a strategy, every post has a purpose.

That's why strategy is at the center of everything I do at Freetide Creative. Whether it's photography, content creation, or social media management, we start with the goal first and build from there.

I help businesses build social media strategies that align with their goals, attract the right audience, and make content creation feel less overwhelming.

But if I'm being honest, I wasn't fully doing that for myself.

I was (somewhat) showing up consistently. I was creating content. But I wasn't always creating it with the same level of intention I encourage my clients to have.

This week, I spent a VIP Day with Kelly from GRATI Consulting , and one of the biggest takeaways was realizing that I needed to take the same strategic approach to my own business that I bring to my clients every day.

When you're busy serving clients, it's easy to put your own marketing on the back burner. To post what's ready. To share what's convenient. To hope consistency alone will do the heavy lifting.

That VIP Day gave me the space to step back, clarify my goals, identify the audiences I want to reach, and create a plan that actually supports where I want Freetide Creative to go next.

Because good content isn't about posting more.

It's about posting with purpose.

The same strategy I build for my clients is now going to guide my own content - and I'm excited to see where it leads.

Two years ago I lost my Dziadzi, a pillar of my family. He was our rock. He worked hard and led with utmost courage and integrity. Most of all he was a family man. He cared deeply for his family. Everything he did was for us. He was also a very proud veteran. Passing away on Memorial Day weekend felt so poetic. It was a day that represented so much for him.

Just before he passed, I was selected as a BusinessWest 40 Under 40 recipient, and boy was he proud. He was in and out of the hospital at this point but making it to that dinner was his motivator to get better. He would say over and over, I’m going to be there.

Unfortunately he took a turn. During his final moments as we all took our turn to say goodbye, I whispered in his ear, give me a sign at 40 under 40. He gently squeezed my hand. While he wasn’t physically there, he still had a seat at the table and I’m sure he was looking over.

Since then, I started Freetide Creative bringing all that my Dzi represented, relentless work ethic, integrity, bravery, and most of all…love. 💙
