Your brand wasn’t made to blend in, so why should your content?

When I started planning this shoot, I knew I didn’t want the typical business owner with a laptop brand photos. I wanted something that actually felt like Freetide: strategic, creative, bold, and with a little sass.

And can we talk about how Alexis Puza | MA + TRAVEL Photographer absolutely did her thing with this one?! 🔥 She helped dream up concepts, brought the vision to life, and absolutely rocked the session.

I love collaborating with someone who understands the idea, runs with it, and somehow makes it even cooler than what I had in my head.

Here’s a little sneak peek. More to come.

(PS Alexis, thanks for making me look much cooler than I actually am. 😂)

Grief has shaped me in hard ways and in beautiful ways.

Over the next few days is the anniversary of a loss that completely altered me, and I think that’s part of why this has been on my mind so much lately.

When you own a business, there’s this constant pressure to do more. Work more. Grow faster. Say yes more. And you hear so many stories from successful business owners about everything they sacrificed to get where they are.

The missed weekends. The late nights. The vacations they didn’t take. The years they put life on hold.

And sometimes it starts to feel like that’s just the price of being successful.

But grief has made me question that.

Because life is happening now.

I’m incredibly ambitious, and I care deeply about what I’m building. I want to work hard, and with that…

I’m also questioning the idea that missing your life has to be the price of building a successful one.

I want to grow this business into something I’m incredibly proud of, while still being present for the people I love, the trips, the slow mornings, the random afternoons, the memories, and the parts of life that have nothing to do with productivity.

I’m still figuring out how to hold both.

Part of why I’m sharing something so vulnerable is because I keep thinking, what would my cousin Jenna do? She’d be real and authentic, and that’s how I want to show up to. 💙

Your goals aren’t the same as the business next door. Your audience isn’t the same. Your challenges aren’t the same. So why would your strategy be?

When I work with a client, we’re not just filling a content calendar or posting for the sake of posting. We’re looking at where you are, where you want to go, and what content can actually help get you there.

Sometimes that means reaching a new audience. Sometimes it means shifting perception. Sometimes it means building trust, increasing awareness, or making the value of what you do a whole lot clearer.

Because good social media should do more than keep your feed active.

Apparently I picked my career before I could spell photographer.

A blue Fisher-Price camera, approximately 4,000 photo books, and signing my name “Alison the Photographer” before I had any idea this could actually be a job.

And now, photography is part of what I get to do for a living.

On World Photography Day. Which also happens to be my birthday.

I mean… come on. ;)

New business owner. Not new to this. ✌️

When I look back at the last 15 years, my career definitely wasn’t a perfectly mapped-out plan. There were opportunities I took because they felt right. Jobs I left because they no longer did. Doors I walked through without knowing exactly what was on the other side.

A few leaps of faith. A lot of learning. And somehow, each one gave me something I needed for the next.

Marketing taught me strategy.
PR taught me communication.
Social media taught me how to connect with people.
Photography taught me another way to tell a story.

And all of it eventually led to Freetide Creative.

I may be newer to business ownership, but the experience behind this business has been 15 years in the making.

And apparently, betting on myself has been part of the plan all along.

A good content day starts before you ever hit record.

A little planning can save you from realizing halfway through that your mic is dead, your phone storage is full, or you somehow filmed everything except the ONE shot you actually needed.

Make the most of your content day, save this checklist and thank yourself later.

And if planning the content, figuring out what to say, filming it AND making sure you got everything sounds like a lot, that’s what I’m here for. 🫡
