Where are all of my fellow small business owners who do this 45 times a day because you swear to f*cking God, going back to a 9-5 would be less stress? 🙋🏻‍♀️

But none of us ever will because there’s something addicting about this life…

Oh and I FINALLY stopped by to work for a bit! It’s absolutely wild it took me this long to get there but I’m so glad I did. Check it out, if you’re in the area.

What's your why?

If you just said 'money,' or 'freedom,' you aren't all that different from so many others who want to start their own business.

You're also probably like them in that you won't be successful in entrepreneurship.

At least once a year, I reevaluate my why. My why for Ad Creations Marketing, for my new business - Pawsibly Yours, and for continuing to live the life that right for me.

I dig deep. The answer to that question is what will get me the money and freedom I want and need.

Small business owners have always walked uphill battles, but that's more true today than ever before. We need to know our why if we're going to make it in this brutal market.

Take some time today to think about your why. Deep dig. And, if you're brave enough, drop it in the comments for feedback.

Tip of the Day

If the person/business you're getting marketing advice from says "this is all ethical" in their demo or webinar, chances are it's not so ethical.

Ethical marketing doesn't require you remind people that it's ethical. đź–¤

It’s been a minute since I’ve shared a refreshed intro. I’ve grown so much in confidence and self-acceptance, and recently made the decision to align my personal brand and the Ad Creations Marketing brand. So, a new intro is in order…

At Ad Creations Marketing, I primarily work with small business owners in regulated industries (think cannabis & vi*****rs) building compliant marketing strategies and campaigns. I’ll consider other industries, but this is my specialty.

If you’re looking for loud, aggressive, manipulative marketing, I’m NOT your person.

I brought on a part time administrative assistant last month. I find myself much less stressed now. Best money spent!

My dopamine menu:
- baking
- cooking
- writing
- walks
- dancing with my dogs (or any kind of play with them)
- Pilates
- weight lifting
- gardening

Fun facts:
- I’m a slt for equal rights.
- The shirt I’m wearing in the photo is on inside out and I had no clue until right before bed.
- That is my current favorite mug for tea.
- I’m a doctor - the PhD kind

I’m accepting new clients. Feel free to DM or email me your questions and I’ll let you know if we’re a good fit for one another.

Email in first comment.

I’m thinking about building a new product and I want to sanity-check it before I invest more time.

It’s for ecommerce founders who do their own email marketing and feel like they’re constantly guessing what to send or whether they’re doing more harm than good.

I don’t do loud, manipulative marketing, and I don’t believe fast sales built on shaky promises are sustainable.

This would be a clear, ethics-first system for deciding what emails to send, when to send them, and what to skip altogether.

If you run an ecommerce business and email feels overwhelming or harder than it should, would something like this be useful for you?

A simple yes or no in the comments would be awesome!

As a woman-owned business and someone who honors my Native American ancestry, my job is political.

I support business owners in taboo industries.

I absolutely believe cannabis should be legal.

I absolutely believe that food in the United States is purposely filled with additives that aren’t good for humans.

I absolutely believe there are more holistic solutions to many ailments where pharmaceutical drugs are pushed.

I also absolutely believe that what is going on in this country, in Iran, in Ukraine, in Gaza, etc. etc. etc. is pure evil.

While I tend to vote for people who run for office as a Democrat, I don’t identify with any particular political party. I identify as a human who believes in human rights. I believe in kindness and compassion. That EVERY single human regardless of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation deserve access to housing, food, clean water, and healthcare.

I do not believe that ICE has the right to kidnap, torture, or kill any human being.

As a survivor of r**e and other abuses I should have never had to endure but will live with the effects of forever, I cannot find a justifiable reason to support DJT or any of his administration.

I believe it’s important for me to make this stand because it’s important for my clients to know they are safe with me. I will not be neutral on human rights. Ever.

Today’s small business spotlight is for someone who has changed both my physical health and my relationship with my own body: Earth Mother Body Solutions, run by Dr. Alanna.

I first crossed paths with her in the most unglamorous way possible: a rib popped out of place and I needed a chiropractor who was open on a Sunday. I didn’t even see her that day. But I did get an adjustment from a chiropractor she had personally chosen to work at that franchise, and it was the first time I walked out thinking, “Huh… maybe chiropractic care isn’t the horror movie my brain made it out to be.”

I went back. I met her. And that’s when everything clicked.

I’ve never vibed with chiropractic care before. My anxiety sits high enough to power a small city, and my muscles live in a permanent state of “brace for impact.” That tension shows up everywhere, back, neck, wrists, elbows, you name it.
But with Dr. Alanna?
She’s the first person who made my body feel supported instead of scolded.

Over the past year, I’ve had:
• back adjustments
• neck adjustments
• wrist and elbow work
• acupuncture
• Thai massage

Here’s the part I appreciate most: she doesn’t just “fix” things and send you on your way. She teaches me how to stay aligned so I don’t have to see her constantly. She wants people to feel better long-term, not become dependent.

When she told me she was leaving the franchise world to start her own business, offering chiropractic work, bodywork, and energy work, I was immediately in. Supporting her wasn’t even a question. Helping someone who genuinely cares about every single person who walks through her door? That’s the kind of business I want more of in this world.

If I had to describe her practice in one word: magic.
And I don’t use that lightly.

Dr. Alanna is grounded, authentic, intentional, and one of the easiest people to trust with your healing. We’re similar in so many ways and different in just as many, but her values? They’re solid. Always.

If you’ve been looking for chiropractic care in the St. Louis area that doesn’t feel rushed, dismissive, or cookie-cutter, or if you’re curious about acupuncture, Thai massage, or energy work, this is a small business worth supporting.

Your body deserves someone who treats you like a whole person, not a problem to crack.

Earth Mother Body Solutions is exactly that.

Here’s a fun little before-and-after from my own brain:

What I thought marketing was when I started doing it as a side hustle because education paid nothing:
“I can make people and businesses sound and look fun or pretty or whatever it is they want.""

What marketing actually is:
Reading analytics like a crime scene investigator.
Untangling compliance rules written by someone who hates joy.
Fixing problems people didn’t know they had.
Explaining the same thing twelve different ways until it finally clicks.
Trying to help small businesses thrive without burning yourself out.
And yes… occasionally making things look pretty.

But here’s the part I genuinely love:
When someone goes from “I have no idea what I’m doing” to
“Oh. I get it now.”

That shift. the clarity, the confidence, the relief, is why I do this work.

If your marketing feels confusing, overwhelming, or like it’s speaking a language you didn’t sign up to learn… you’re not alone.

And you’re not doing it wrong.
You just need someone who can translate the chaos into something you can actually use.

If that’s you, you know where to find me.

Today’s spotlight is for a place that’s become a steady part of my routine and a really meaningful part of my life: Studio Ivanhoe (link in bio) here in St. Louis.

My first session was back in April 2024. I’d compared prices across locally owned studios, and they were easily the most affordable for what they offered, especially with small classes (usually 5–7 people). I went in expecting to feel intimidated and probably drop off after a couple sessions.

That’s not what happened.

Every instructor there is welcoming, supportive, and intentional. They remember you. They know your abilities. And they push you in a way that feels encouraging, never in a way that risks injury or turns movement into punishment. The focus is never aesthetics. It’s always about how you feel and what your body can do that day.

I rotate instructors but definitely have my favorites. I’m usually in reformer classes that flow pretty quickly, the kind that feel equal parts grounding and energizing. Pilates has been one of the only types of movement that gives me stress relief, helps me build strength without hurting my joints, and lets me practice breathing on purpose. I can tell when I’m not going at least twice a week. My mood is different.

And I want to share something personal, because it’s part of why this studio means so much to me.

As someone with cPTSD, severe anxiety, PMDD, and peri menopause all happening at once, my emotions can go from zero to chaos without warning. One morning in class, I suddenly started crying uncontrollably. I couldn’t keep going, so I got up, cleaned my machine, and headed toward the door.

The instructor checked on me several times; no hovering, not intrusive, just present. She adjusted the temperature to help me cool off. And when I finally decided to leave, she gave me a hug before I walked out. No advice. No pep talk. Just a quiet moment of care.

I’m not even a hugger. But she helped me more that day than she’ll probably ever know.

Studio Ivanhoe is approachable for any level, genuinely supportive, and woman-owned here in St. Louis. For me, pilates has become part of my healing process.

If you’ve been thinking about trying pilates, or you’re looking for a place where you can show up exactly as you are, this is a small business worth supporting.

Since Tuesday’s post hit a nerve for some, let’s go a layer deeper.

Here’s the truth no one likes to admit:
Most business ideas don’t fail because they’re bad.
They fail because the strategy behind them is missing.

People jump in without validating the idea,
without understanding the market,
without knowing how to talk about the offer,
without knowing what the hell is even allowed in their industry…
and then wonder why everything feels chaotic.

And honestly? You’re not doing it wrong.
You just didn’t start with a foundation.

That’s what Idea to Income is built for.
We walk through your idea step-by-step so you can stop guessing and start building.

Inside the process, we figure out:
• who your idea actually helps
• whether it’s viable
• how to position it
• what makes it stand out
• what you’re allowed to say (especially if you’re in a regulated industry)
• and what your next move should be

No pressure. No false hype.
Just clarity.

If you’ve been circling the same idea for months (or years) and want someone who will tell you the truth and help you turn it into something real, this is for you.

Comment INFO or DM Idea to Income and I’ll send you everything you need to know. Again, I'm manually replying to comments and DMs, so be kind.

Your idea deserves more than “maybe someday.”
