Congratulations Haunters Against Hate! Thank you for making this industry a loving place for all who seek to express themselves within it!

Today, HAH hit 19,000 followers. And I cannot thank you enough for this journey. What started out with an open letter on FB has become a full non-profit that has raised over $85,000 thru the years to help LGBTQ+ organizations across the U.S. from VA to AK. (and a couple of animal rescue organizations that really needed help)

Today I woke up to learn the unfortunate news that Michael “Myers” Porciello has passed. Words can’t adequately do justice to the contribution Myers made to the Long Island haunt community.
Myers was the first person I met in the haunt community that truly embodied the pure devotion and dedication that haunters have. He worked on the Schmitt build crew throughout the off season and spent the haunt season working the farm all day and then the haunt every night. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Myers knew that he never complained about the long days and nights - he loved every second of it.
Myers played numerous characters for our shoots at Schmitts and was a pleasure to have on set. He always delivered and was always happy to be there.
Both Myers and I joined the Schmitts team on their annual Transworld trip in 2018. It was both of our first times. What a wild experience that was. Myers was such a character he even slept like a vampire without a pillow and snored with the force of Michael Myers himself. I did NOT enjoy sharing a bed with him during all of that lol but I’d gladly do it one more time if given the chance.
Everyone who knew Myers had the honor of receiving perfectly crafted backwards messages from him. That was his special talent. He BEGGED me to include him talking backwards in the vlog of our transworld trip and when it finally came his time to do it he refused and talked regularly lol. Myers was never predictable. The guy always kept you on your toes.
Rest easy, Myers. May your legacy live on in the next generation of haunters.
