That really is what made Dolly unusual.
Her legacy wasn’t only entertainment.

Thank you Dolly….
🫶🏻 For reminding me,to stop worrying
about being “too much”!

💡 For encouraging us to never feel the need
to ‘tone yourself down’ or ‘dim your light’
just to become a more “acceptable” version
of yourself just to make others comfortable.

💜 For reminding us, to just be OK
with exactly who we are.

🪄 For showing us, that when we can stop
worrying so much about what others think,
real magic can happen.

“Find out who you are and do it on purpose, with purpose.” — Dolly Parton.
That may be one of my favorite things she ever said, because I feel like Dolly truly lived it…. and it’s something I looked up to her for.

❗️Dolly never seemed interested in shrinking herself, presenting quieter,
toning herself down, dressing differently, or pretending to be something she wasn’t… regardless of what others had to say❗️

People had opinions about how she looked….
She just kept being Dolly. 👑

People criticized her….
She just kept being Dolly. 👑

She made mistakes, like every one of us does….. but…
She just kept being Dolly. 👑

She could laugh at herself, smile through the criticism, learn what she needed to learn, and keep moving in the direction she believed her life was meant to go.

And no, she wasn’t perfect -
and she never claimed to be.

Maybe that was another reason SO many people loved her.

She didn’t seem to let a mistake, a negative comment, or somebody else’s opinion change her entire vision for her life….
She just kept being Dolly. 👑

And honestly, thinking about Dolly has always made me feel a little better about the crazy earrings I’m about to put in, or whatever other ridiculous thing I’m about to do that might make somebody roll their eyes or poke a little fun. 😂❤️

Because if it makes you happy, brings joy to somebody else, and isn’t hurting anyone…
🤷‍♀️ why let the naysayers have so much say?

-We aren’t going to get everything right.
-We aren’t going to make everybody happy.
-People will misunderstand us.
-Criticize us.
-And sometimes we’ll even disappoint ourselves.

But we can learn what we need to learn,
find peace within ourselves, live in the grace of God, and remember that He created each of us unique. We’re not called to all look and act exactly the same. How boring would life be then?

I think what I admired most about Dolly, was that being unapologetically herself, never required tearing anybody else down.

She showed that you could stand firmly in your faith and still extend kindness, dignity and love to people whose lives may have looked completely different from your own, all while openly loving Jesus. 🙏

That is something I want my girls to see more of in this world 🌎 and something I hope they learn to live out themselves.

Because Dolly didn’t just live a famous life.
She built a legacy.

🎶 Music people will sing long after she’s gone.
📸 Memories from her parks that families will carry for generations.
💰 Help for communities when they needed it.
📚 Books placed into the hands of millions of children.

She cared about generations she knew she would never even get to meet.

💎 Dolly had all the rhinestones, wigs, makeup, fame and success in the world…. and yet somehow,
one of the things people remember most about her…. is
How kind she was.
How generous she was.
How she made people feel.
What a beautiful thing to leave behind.

Thank you, God, for letting us witness someone who showed the world what it looked like to be wildly, boldly and completely yourself , while still making part of your life about loving others, giving back, and making people smile.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music.
For the smiles. For the example.
For the lessons I can pass on to my girls.
And for reminding all of us to figure out who we are…
…and do it on purpose. ❤️

👏 THIS is exactly why photography
+ social media belong together. 📸 📱

I knew Scott & Denise were ready for an updated Facebook cover and we already had an idea of where we wanted to go with it.

So when I photographed them, I wasn’t just thinking about taking “a good picture”.

I was thinking about where I would stand have this in the final design. Where the negative space needed to be, their pose, what they were wearing.
The overall feel we wanted for the final piece to be.

Then I got to take that photograph back to my computer and turn it into this. 👇

And THAT is a side of my business I’m ready to grow 👏.

I’ve been managing social media for businesses for years but very few times have I mentioned it.

Now with having a blank space studio ready for pictures and videos and even a meeting place to discuss branding & marketing strategies, it’s time to go for it and give it the push!

☀️ Some of the best childhood memories don’t need much. A cold Coke in a glass bottle, bare feet in a creek, and a hot summer evening.

This one just feels like summertime.

My girls are always telling me,
“Cooper is the cutest!” 😂
So I was pretty excited to finally get
him in front of my camera. We originally packed a 🎣 fishing pole, thinking that would be the star of the show… but nothing made this almost 3-year-old happier than his Coke bottle. 🤣

The rain held off just long enough for us to sneak in this session, and while this wasn’t the image I thought I’d be sharing first,
that smile completely stole me.
I couldn’t wait for his mama to see it.

Now, these two beautiful ladies…

Lisa was one of my very first headshot trials almost 9 years ago 🤯. She was my boss at the time, but quickly became so so much more than that. I then met Caren at that same office when she and her husband joined.

I remember thinking, “She is always so put together!” 😂 I was honestly a little nervous to meet her. But it didn’t take long to realize that both of these women are some of the most genuine, down-to-earth people you’ll ever meet.

They give so much of themselves to help others, and they’re every bit as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside.

So, even though I’ve been away from the office for quite a while now, it meant so much that they called me to capture photos for their newest venture.

It’s one of my favorite parts of this job, a reason to reconnect with amazing people.

Thank you both for thinking of me.
It truly means more than you know. ❤️

Now, to present some of my amazing loyal clients little newborn 🥹.
Well… small newborn?! 😆

He arrived weighing OVER 1️⃣1️⃣ POUNDS, a head full of hair, and already giving a little attitude, as he spent his entire newborn session giving us the funniest little mean mug. 😂

But no matter what face he makes,
he is still ridiculously handsome.

To my loyal clients, thank you. Truly.
Thank you for continuing to trust me with your biggest moments, even when I’ve been a little quiet on putting myself out there.
It means more than you know.

Creek minis are coming later this month,
And somehow… it’s already time to start booking fall sessions! 🍂

Editing always has me zooming in, adjusting tiny details most people would never notice.

But when I made it to my daughter’s image, and went to zoom in… my eyes filled with tears.

I saw all these little details that I’ve watched grow over the years.

I didn’t see flaws to fix.
I saw everything God created
so intentionally.

Kind. Gentle. 🤍
Strong in who she is.
And growing in her love for Him.
