What exactly is SEO?

Well, it is a lot like a map. When you're heading out to a place you've never been before more than likely you'll use a map to find your way. Otherwise you'll probably end up lost.

When people search for a website they use a "map" such as Google, Bing or Yahoo.

These Search Engines - or "maps" are given directions by website developers by attaching Key Words.

Let's say someome is looking for a Pizza place.

They enter "Pizza" and probably the "town" where they want to find the pizza.

Google then uses the Key Words: Pizza & the Town to search for Pizza businesses and displays the results.

So, if you own a Pizza shop but have not had any keywords attached to your website then Search Engines such as Google will pass you by and display your competitors business.

The more Key Words that are attached to your website the better the "map" and the higher your website will be displayed in their search results.
