For Part 2 of this series, I asked: What does life look like when you join the ACCESS Academy?

Jeremy Shughart explains that in 11th and 12th grade, the program becomes a full-time commitment. Students take their coursework at the Fuse Center, George Mason University’s newest research facility on the Mason Square campus in Arlington. Everything is fully connected to the university.

That means students have the opportunity to engage in college-level coursework while still in high school — at no cost.

(Accelerated College and Employability Skills).

In this episode, Jeremy shares what it’s like to lead the ACCESS Academy program for LCPS, which helps students prepare for college and future careers. He talks about supporting school leaders, evaluating staff performance, and managing instructional materials.

Jeremy works closely with the George Mason University Lab School, partners with the Department of Teaching and Learning on curriculum and professional development, and helps create coaching and learning opportunities for educators. He also supports admissions and transportation and works with students, parents, and teachers to help students succeed.
