This past weekend we said goodbye to my Uncle Bob, the “Stoney” of Stoneydale.
Stoney was my Uncle, Dale was my Father.
Both of these incredible men have now left our lives, they both blessed our lives beyond measure and left behind the legacies of wilderness & conservation areas saved for generations to enjoy.
Stoney was a veritable force in this world: a highly decorated Air Force pilot who served two tours in Vietnam. A successful lawyer, a logger, an outfitter, a businessman, an artist, and his favorite roles: husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather.
Two of the greatest stars to have ever shined have fallen; and though our lives were all the brighter because of these men, the sky will always seem a little darker without them.
Love you always and forever Uncle Bob “Stoney” Burk.

Deeply saddened to hear about the Reverend’s passing.
He was always so upbeat, full of life and always busy doing something!
He wrote the PuppityPup series of books, books for kids about a puppy that went from his first day of being adopted and then onto other adventures he had; and Horsehide Devotions, a daily devotional for horse (all animal) lovers. His love and exuberance of life and animals were equally matched.

Mark Joel Nicolaus was born in Sheboygan, WI on March 7, 1944, the son of Gordon and Ruth Nicolaus. He was baptized, attended parochial school, and confirmed his faith at St. John Lutheran Church and school in Plymouth, Wisconsin.

I will be closed this week due to my mother’s death and an emergency surgery that I had the same day she died.
