I hit the jackpot tonight: My dad brought me dirt. Not just any dirt but dirt I spent the first 20 years of my life in. Running my hands in it tonight felt like connecting to a portal that I left behind 18 years ago.

These days, I’m finding myself buying The Old Farmers Almanac’s guide to vegetable gardening and questioning “why” when it comes to anything we are doing or consuming.

I never imagined 38 would be the year of being diagnosed with Tourette’s but this life’s antics are getting pretty humbling and humorous. I’ve been through quite the rabbit hole of weird but livable neurological issues the last few years and developing a progressing tic disorder in the last 6 months has been a wild ride for sure. 😳🤣 🤷‍♀️

In an effort to try to calm my nervous system, I’m attempting to prioritize putting my hands in dirt. Maybe it’s science, maybe it’s God. I personally think science is just the human attempt at explaining God’s amazing creation. But along the way I’ve heard something about microbes 🦠 and other benefits of being in the dirt.

So when I called dad to ask if he could spare a load of dirt for my garden bed, he said the hilltop north of the single silo, where we fed large round bales to groups of cattle for decades would be the dirt I wanted. Dad “retired” a couple years ago so this area has been self composting into the most beautiful black dirt.

Not only did he share, but he delivered. And with a dump bed! Jackpot is an understatement.

I spent the entire evening writhing this beautiful rich soil in between my hands, crumbing it in my fingers. Pushing my hands down into it, up to my elbows, to find the soft clumps to break apart in the most satisfying way. The years of hay has composted with the topsoil and manure to create a microbe and nutrient haven. My hands will be sore tomorrow but I just couldn’t pull them away.

It felt like I was connecting to a world I’ve been missing but had forgotten.

Science is cool but God’s intricate design is pretty amazing.

Thanks again Dad. ❤️

This photo of our youngest, quite literally soaking in the dirt is just a bonus.

Tonight I tried playing with alcohol inks for the first time and LOVED it! I truly enjoyed my time tonight learning a new skill from Renaissance Art Studio. Kristin is teaching true art forms and does in a way that is easy to experiment and learn. I’ve always loved experimenting with different mediums but rarely want to spend the time or money on something I might not like doing. Tonight didn’t feel like a “class”, it felt like an open workspace with the tools I needed prepped for me and gentle encouragement to try a few new techniques.

100% recommend looking into their 2026 schedule of workshops!

I’ve been working with MidAmerican Beef for a little over a year now and am really enjoying my time with them. Check out their social pages, their website, and follow along for their new local retail location. It’s my touch behind the visuals you see! This last week, I spent an hour sitting in a pasture… by myself with my camera. Just letting the babes get curious about me and the momma’s get comfortable with me.

Is this what a dream job feels like???

It’s been a couple decades since I just sat on the ground, by myself, in a herd of cattle. That hour filled my soul.

You see, not everyone would be comfortable sitting on the ground with a group of new calves and their mommas. But when you quite literally grow up learning to read these’s animals, you find a level of peace with them that some other just can’t. These animals have my heart!

I’m thankful that God led me to this spot in my career.

This photo will be hard to beat as my fav in years to come so I had to share. It was a one-off snap of these two after Clay ran to meet Robbie coming up the drive saying “Me ‘ive tuck! Me ‘ive!”

As a side note, Clay has been seeing Mellissa Stagg, a local speech pathologist that has started her own in-home clinic: Words That Work. She has been amazing!! His speech has exploded this summer! He’ll be three in November and he’s finally starting to put three and four word sentences together. My heart literally melts every time he adds “momma” to a phrase. 🥰

P.S. I know many of you have the same thoughts as I do and I want to reassure that Clay isn’t allowed to be outside without eyes on moving vehicles. ❤️

I’m so excited to share some of the fun stuff I’ve been working on with Absolute Aesthetics & Wellness (AAW)! They’re not just clients; they’re an incredible teammate for my own creative outlets. Every month, I put together a whole mix of cool things for them, from their super user-friendly website to some captivating short-form video content that shows what they do best.

I pack each month with ready-to-post content that’s designed to catch your eye and teach you a thing or two about wellness. I have especially loved dipping into macro (incredibly up close) videos—we get up close to show you the magic of AAW’s services, and let me tell you, it’s pretty cool seeing skin related procedures performed that close.

I always have a blast working with AAW. Their innovative approach keeps me on my toes and always learning something new, which helps me continue to grow and learn new skills that benefit not only them but my other clients too! I get super excited every time we get to roll out something new!

I’ll be sharing more of the up close content after AAW has a chance to share it first. Keep an eye out for more awesome stuff we’ve got coming your way!
