The stage is almost set for Dancing with the Martin Stars! 💃✨

On September 26, eight local community members will take the stage for the 15th anniversary of our client Martin County Healthy Start Coalition, Inc.’s signature fundraiser.

Behind the sparkle and competition is an important mission: supporting prenatal programs and helping move the Treasure Coast Maternity Center forward.

Some people just have a light about them. Dolly Parton had enough to fill the whole jar.

She was funny, generous, talented, smart and completely, unapologetically herself. She never needed to change who she was to connect with people. In fact, that was exactly why people connected with her.

At Firefly, we spend a lot of time thinking about what makes a story resonate. Dolly was a pretty wonderful reminder that sometimes the answer is simple: Know who you are. Be who you are. And let that light shine.

The world won’t sparkle quite the same without her. ✨

A controversial golf ad is making headlines this week, but from a communications perspective, the bigger question is: How did it get approved in the first place?

Good Good Golf and Callaway have both apologized after releasing an ad that showed a male golfer shoving a woman to the ground when she reached for his golf club. The video was quickly removed following widespread backlash.

At Firefly, we have the privilege of working with SafeSpace, the only state-certified domestic violence center serving the Treasure Coast. Through that work, we’ve become even more attuned to the prevalence of domestic violence and why portrayals of violence against women should never be treated casually.

There are plenty of lessons here about crisis communications and how brands respond when they get it wrong. But perhaps the more important lesson is what happens before the crisis.

Creative ideas should never be evaluated in a vacuum. Before an ad, campaign or social post goes live, someone needs to step outside the creative process and ask: How could this be perceived by someone who wasn’t in the room?

That doesn’t mean brands should stop taking creative risks. It means creativity never eliminates the need for sound judgment.

This incident has sparked a lot of conversation here at the Jar about the responsibility brands have for what they put into the world. How do you think something like this makes it through multiple layers of review?

Every time a woman uses her voice, takes up space, or stands up for what she deserves, it creates a little more room for others to do the same.💜✨

This Women’s Equality Day, let’s celebrate the women who keep showing up for themselves and for each other, and let’s keep working toward a world where equality is not just recognized, but expected.

Tag a woman who inspires you to stand a little taller.👇

A record breaking day is coming to Martin County. 🥪💙

On September 12, our client House of Hope will bring more than 100 community members together for Bite Into History, an effort to build a 400 foot Cuban sandwich and set a new world record right here in Palm City.

Co-hosted with Old Havana Cafe, the event will bring people together for a fun day while shining a light on House of Hope’s work helping local individuals and families overcome hunger and hardship.

And this time, we won’t just be cheering from the sidelines. The Fireflies will be there helping build the sandwich, too!

Sometimes the things people leave behind tell a story we didn’t fully understand while they were here.

In her latest Friends & Neighbors column, Stacy Weller Ranieri reflects on helping her mom sort through her late father’s lifelong collections and realizing the baseball cards, coins, stamps, Hess trucks and handwritten notes were more than just things he saved.

They were pieces of what he loved, what brought him joy and what he carefully protected over a lifetime.

The routine of life at home has a way of making everything feel like it can wait.

There will always be another Friday night, another weekend, another chance to call that friend or make plans with the neighbors, until suddenly weeks have quietly turned into months.📆

In her latest Friends & Neighbors column, Stacy Weller Ranieri reflects on how a trip to Banner Elk became a reminder to treat the people we care about with more urgency, because none of us really knows how many sunrises and sunsets we have left.
