Scope Creep: Chaos's Bestie Or A Web Designer's Foe?

Scope creep, oh boy, it's that sneaky troublemaker that shows up uninvited to the entrepreneurial party sooner or later. Ever since I kicked off my web design journey back in 2017, let me spill the tea on what I've gathered along the way. Dealing with scope creep is like meticulously planning a wedding only to have it throw its own wild plans on the big day. No matter how many safeguards you set up to fend off scope creek, brace yourself for unexpected situations, circumstances, or variables that let scope creep waltz right in.

Pinpoint the scope creep, communicate like your project's life depends on it, tweak the plan accordingly... and know sometimes you win and other times you don't. Now, here's the early lesson I learned in this crazy journey – sometimes, despite all your actions, scope creep might win, and you gotta TAKE THAT L. Yeah, it stings like a mother, but take it, soak in the lessons, build some badass processes and policies to dodge it next time, hustle like your life depends on it to bounce back, and just keep pushing. Because in the grand scheme of things, scope creep might be a m**o, but you're the ultimate boss.

Some of these are oldies but goodies. In the day and age of ai assisted content, SEO is still an important pathway to website success. I always tell clients, a website is great but without the strategy and tools to lead the visitor to the site...its wasting time and resources. Continuing to embrace tools like SEMRUSH has been so beneficial. For me, a solid SEO strategy is the key to unlocking the treasure trove of organic search results.

However, I'm always up for learning new tricks from fellow SEO adventurers. What other strategies or approaches do you suggest for dominating the SEO game in 2024?

Just a few strategies I will continue to embrace this year:

AI-Driven Content: Use AI algorithms to create engaging and relevant content that caters to user behavior and preferences.
Voice Search Optimization: Optimize your content for voice searches by using natural language, long-tail keywords, and providing informative answers to voice queries.
Video SEO: Videos are essential for online success. Optimize your videos with keyword-rich titles, descriptions, and transcripts and use eye-catching thumbnails.
User Experience (UX) Focus: Prioritize user experience by ensuring fast loading times, mobile responsiveness, and intuitive navigation.
Local SEO: Optimize for local searches by claiming your Google My Business listing, encouraging customer reviews, and using location-based keywords.
Featured Snippets Optimization: Optimize your content for featured snippets by providing clear and concise answers to common queries in your niche.
E-A-T (Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness): Establish your brand as an industry authority by showcasing expertise through quality content, backlinks from reputable sources, and transparent, trustworthy information.
Social Media Integration: Share your content on social media platforms to increase visibility and encourage engagement. Build a community around your brand.
Technical SEO: Ensure your website is crawlable, fix broken links, optimize meta tags, and utilize schema markup for enhanced search engine understanding.

Folks often ask, "How has ai changed the way I do business as a web designer?"

Ai has allowed me to reduce a lot of tedious and redundant tasks, therefore saving time and increasing my productivity. However, what I do for clients begins and ends with solving their workflow problems. By identifying problems, I can offer solutions, develop workflows and automations that simplify processes for my clients, resulting in a superior customer experience. I haven't found an ai program that completely replaces that part of what I do. And that's not to say that it won't in the future. Any web designers/developers agree or disagree?
