Cincinnati homeowners have a fall tradition: leave the garden hose attached until the first freeze sends a reminder nobody asked for. 😅

The hose is still hooked up. The patio furniture is still out. And winter feels approximately 47 years away.

Then one cold night shows up and suddenly that outdoor faucet becomes a much more interesting part of the house.

Before freezing weather arrives, disconnect the hose and make sure the outdoor faucet is not dripping or obviously damaged. If your setup has an interior shutoff, know where it is before you need it.
