With all the hype around AI and ChatGPT right now, one of the biggest myths floating around is that ChatGPT is here to replace Google.
If you've come across one of the many people saying this here is what you need to know about why this is the farthest thing from the truth:
👉🏼 For the AI in ChatGPT to work, it needs to be trained on a huge amount of data which is extremely expensive to do. In other words, it can't be done very often, and the data that the current model is trained on is from September 2021 or earlier. So the information you get from it is dated and possibly inaccurate, and will need to be fact-checked.. on Google, of course.
👉🏼 While ChatGPT is amazing with its ability to produce human-like copy that includes intent and context but not the most accurate data, Google is a search engine that is specifically designed to give you the most current information on the internet- even though it doesn't consider context or intent quite as much as ChatGPT does.
👉🏼 ChatGPT is free in its current beta testing phase but will eventually be a paid service, unlike Google which is forever-free search engine.
All this to say that we are a far cry from ChatGPT replacing Google search right now, and to truly leverage either tool, we need to understand their true purpose and how to use each one correctly and for the right job.
🧐 Do you agree? How do you feel about the AI craze taking over the internet right now?
