January 2026 marks 60 years on the air for WSSU/KUWS Radio 91.3 serving the Superior area. Thank you to everyone who has supported the radio stations through the decades starting back in 1966. Special thank you & appreciation to the UW-Superior students, faculty, staff & alumni that have worked at the station over those years and made the airwaves informative & fun. We would especially like to thank our partners at Wisconsin Public Radio that have supported this region & station when the partnership first started on campus in 1988. The mission remains the same as in 1966 to entertain & inform the community, region & campus here at UWS. We will celebrate the station over the air throughout the year. A very special shout-out & thank you to the businesses & underwriters who have made this all possible over the decades. 2026 will be a year to celebrate the success of WSSU/KUWS and we invite you to join us in October for the UWS ALL-School Reunion on Oct. 2 & 3. Meanwhile enjoy three Yellowjacket games on KUWS today as we continue to showcase local programming with Yellowjacket student-athletes in basketball & hockey coverage. Soprano, Vicki Fingalson will join forces with pianist, Teresa Vaughan in an eclectic program of Music to Move, Challenge, and Delight. They will be joined by Greg Moore (alto saxophone), Jeffrey Madison (baritone), and Byron Klimek (cello) on a program featuring the music of W.A. Mozart (Exsultate Jubilate & excerpts from Le nozze di Figaro), Ellwood Derr (I Never Saw Another Butterfly), and Benjamin Britten (On This Island).
