I know many of us are feeling the upcoming one year anniversary of Hurricane Helene in our beloved WNC. We'd love for all to come see the work of artists who live in the Swannanoa Valley for a special exhibit in the heart of downtown Swannanoa. After Helene highlights the work of over a dozen artists reflecting on our community's loss, healing and strength.

Filmmaker funding opportunity- OVERVIEW
The Diane Weyermann Fellowship at Points North champions filmmaking teams producing cinematic feature documentaries that take artistic risks in highlighting stories of moral and ethical urgency. Mirroring Diane’s generosity and commitment to bold, visionary storytelling, this program aims to empower a new generation of creative documentary directors and producers, building a robust community of support that will help them create significant works of art that connect with audiences across the world.

Up to three original, feature-length documentaries in production from global filmmaking teams will be selected to participate in an 18-month collaborative Fellowship. Resources provided to Fellows include $100,000 in unrestricted, non-recoupable grants, mentorship from veteran filmmakers and industry leaders, festival retreat, and ongoing professional development – all designed to support the completion of their films and the advancement of sustainable careers as artists.

Support documentary filmmakers, journalists and truth tellers in Afghanistan. Many of us in the documentary community have been advocating for Afghan filmmakers, translators and fixers who face harsh retaliation from the Taliban regime. Other suggestions on how to advocate for all vulnerable Afghan citizens in the comments below.

Several of my former 'Angels are Made of Light' are targets for ex*****on by the Taliban because of their work for US-funded projects in Afghanistan. We hope that with your help, we can draw attention to the SIV applications of my friend and bring him to safety.
