It's my wedding anniversary!

We've seen and done it all in nine years of marriage. Moving, change of jobs, babies, loss, surgeries, church change, and oodles more.

But one of the things I treasure most is that before we had even been married for a year, Jon started believing in me to start my own business. Yep, this whole thing was never my original idea. Jon saw the abilities and passions I had for communication and design and he poured into a dream I didn't even know I had.

It all started with taking a personal day from my then-salaried job to stay home and watch a live streamed workshop of how to start a business. We moved back to our hometown, I designed my own (very first!) website, and ordered some business cards.

It was a total and complete leap of blind faith to start Muscadine Marketing with no leads or portfolio. By the grace of God, a few hometown folks found me and sought my help. From there, referrals started coming in.

I now do *only* what I love, work with clients with mutual respect, and close my laptop everyday fulfilled by knowing that the work I'm doing matters. And it's all because this man of mine saw something in me before I saw it for myself. He's been a part of this ride since before day one, and he hears all of my crazy ideas and stories of my clients. What's working, and what's not.

Thank you, Jon, for loving me to the point of invention. I love you forever!

I have to be honest: I have a love-hate relationship with social media for small businesses. *gasp, gag, clutch pearls*

It’s powerful, budget-friendly, and full of potential—but it can also feel like a time-sucking, soul-draining to-do list. Not to mention hoping that what you're throwing out there gets decent engagement and doesn't flop.

Here are the things I love about it:
👉 You can build real connections with your audience.
👉 It gives small businesses a big voice.
👉 It’s totally customizable to your brand voice.

But on the other hand it’s also really easy to waste hours scrolling or posting without a plan, so I try to set time limits and use content calendars to stay focused.
