The Creative Block We design, we write, we code, we research, we strategize, we film, we edit, we test, we collaborate. However, few know what actually works.

When it comes to designing a brand, people usually know what they like – and what they dislike. So, while a specific look might please an advertiser’s eye, what really matters is whether that design produces results. In other words, a website layout should encourage visitors to linger and explore a company’s products. A firm’s tagline must create top-of-mind name recognition among potential client

s. And a nonprofit’s marketing collateral needs to inspire supporters to donate money – and volunteer to help. We see it all the time: organizations using personal preferences to make branding decisions that lead to disappointing results. It’s as if their design biases prevent them from making good creative choices. You might say they have a creative block. Our job at The Creative Block is to design and implement branding that looks great while meeting your marketing expectations. Or, put another way, to know what you like and to know what works. We welcome the opportunity to explain how we accomplish that.

To ensure students opportunities to put their degrees to good use, Defiance College created a first-of-its-kind program structured to prepare graduates for competing in the workforce. DC was the first four-year college to require every student, in every major, to participate in career-readiness programming—every year. The initiative needed is own tagline, allowing us to put our experience to good use. The result: We put the hire into higher education.

Tagline Tuesday: The Northwestern Water and Sewer District has a team of dedicated workers who take their jobs seriously. We’ve talked to many people there, from the construction crew to the engineers to the billing wizards. And we’re always impressed by how accountable they hold themselves to ensuring that the water they provide is always clean, safe, and available. Creating a tagline for The District was pretty straightforward: we just reported the mindset we witnessed.
