Coming soon: the book-on-tape version, narrated by - ME! This was a dream of a life-time, reading an audio book, and I can't think of a better book to have had the pleasure to voice. Deeply felt, extraordinary research, and a new view of Syracuse even for lifetime citizens. But meanwhile - get a copy and read it for yourself!

“If you were a fan of Friday Night Lights, you know…it wasn’t really a sports story, but the story of a town... In Central New York, the same can be said for Floor Burns, a new book…about the passions of Parochial League basketball…”

Counter-intuitive - but interesting!
"Long live Comic Sans. Research shows that uglier, difficult-to-read fonts, help people retain material better. People recall significantly more of what they read when the font is unfamiliar, hard to read, or particularly small. Subjects received the same reading material in different fonts. Those given the harder-to-read fonts recalled 14% more. The findings are in line with other research showing that the harder a topic is to learn, the easier it will be to remember. The struggle to understand makes a stronger impression on your memory. It may seem counter-intuitive, but imagine skimming through text that is scrawled by hand or in an ornate script—it's almost impossible. You have to read each word, meaning you’ll recall a lot more. The scientists behind the research even argue that changing the fonts in teaching materials would greatly improve student performance across the board. Sorry, design team, but I've decided to change all the exercises on Curious lessons to be written in Lucida Calligraphy. " (H/T: curious.com)
