This short reflection explores the painful leadership tension of feeling “damned if I do, damned if I don’t,” and points to the powerful biblical story of Elijah and the drying brook in 1 Kings 17.

Elijah followed God’s instructions faithfully, yet the brook that sustained him eventually dried up. This moment reveals an important leadership principle: sometimes when provision stops and resistance grows, God may be redirecting us toward a new assignment.

Evangelism: Showing Starving People Where the Bread Is

Let me calibrate something important about evangelism.

Many people feel uncomfortable with the word. It sounds aggressive… pushy… like you’re trying to force beliefs on someone.

But Robert Barron gives one of the clearest descriptions of what evangelism actually is.

He says:

Evangelism is simply one starving person showing another starving person where the bread is.

That reframes everything.

Evangelism isn’t superiority.
It’s shared hunger.

It’s saying:
“I was lost too. I was searching too. And I found something that sustains life.”

And that metaphor is deeply biblical.

In John 6:35, Jesus says:

“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

Jesus didn’t present Himself as an idea.
He presented Himself as nourishment for the human soul.

And once you understand that… evangelism becomes natural.

Think about the story in 2 Kings 7.

The city of Samaria was starving during a siege. Four lepers discovered an abandoned enemy camp filled with food. At first they ate in secret.

But then they stopped and said something powerful:

“What we are doing is not right. This is a day of good news, and we are keeping it to ourselves.”

So they went back and told the city where the food was.

That’s evangelism.

Not coercion.
Not pressure.
Witness.

When you have found the bread that sustains life… it becomes almost impossible to keep it to yourself.

And this matters for leadership.

Because if you are leading people — in business, in ministry, in family, in community — you are constantly pointing people toward something.

The question is:

Are you pointing them toward the Bread of Life… or toward things that leave them hungry again tomorrow?

True North leadership remembers this:

We are not the bread.

We are simply the ones who found it…
and are humble enough to show others where it is.

Looking UP.

Because True North never changes.

Compass Calibration: When Frustration Takes the Wheel

Have you ever noticed how the smallest things can completely steal your peace?

Not the big life moments.

But the bureaucratic maze…
IRS portals that don’t work…
City notices that make no sense…
Technical issues that pile on top of each other until suddenly you’re thinking:

Why am I so frustrated right now?

For many of us, it’s because we’re buried in work we were never meant to carry in the first place.

The Bible actually speaks directly to this moment.

Proverbs 14:29 says:
“Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.”

It’s not condemning frustration.

It’s warning that when frustration takes control, wisdom leaves the room.

Even Moses faced this exact problem.

In Exodus 18, Moses was trying to handle every dispute, every complaint, every administrative issue among the people from morning until night.

And his father-in-law Jethro stopped him and said:

“You will only wear yourself out. The work is too heavy for you.”

Sometimes frustration isn’t a character flaw.

Sometimes it’s a signal that you’re carrying burdens that drain your spirit.

So when those moments hit… recalibrate.

Pause.

Take a breath.

And remember 2 Timothy 1:7:

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”

A sound mind means frustration doesn’t get to steer the ship.

Even when the systems are broken.
Even when the paperwork is ridiculous.
Even when the process makes no sense.

Take a breath and recalibrate.

Because even in the middle of chaos…

True North is still pointing the same direction.

🎥 Compass Calibration

“Why You Always Feel Behind (Even When You’re Working Hard)”

Have you noticed?

No matter how much you accomplish…
you still feel behind.

The inbox clears — for ten minutes.
The to-do list shrinks — then doubles.
You work harder — but peace never comes.

Let me ask you something uncomfortable:

Who told you you were supposed to be caught up?

Because Scripture never says that.

It says:

“Seek first the Kingdom of God…” — Matthew 6:33

Not seek first completion.
Not seek first inbox zero.
Not seek first everyone’s approval.

The pain of always feeling behind usually comes from this:

You’re measuring progress by output instead of obedience.

And obedience is quieter.

Jesus was never “caught up.”

There were always more sick people.
More needs.
More crowds.

Yet He said:

“I only do what I see the Father doing.” — John 5:19

That is leadership alignment.

If you feel behind, it may not be because you’re lazy.

It may be because you’re trying to carry assignments God never gave you.

Here’s the recalibration:

Instead of asking,
“How do I get everything done?”

Ask,
“What is actually mine to steward today?”

Psalm 90:12 says:

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Number your day.
Don’t try to conquer it.

Behind is a feeling.
Obedience is a fact.

When you align with what He assigned,
you may still have a full plate —
but you won’t have a fractured soul.
