"π Embracing Resilience and Persistence: The Power of Creating a Story from the Future π Watch Full Episode https://youtu.be/iCxUU3FLz7Q?si=_ov1A8tv1nYv1KZB
β¨ Most of the time, we approach change as an intellectual exercise - updating resumes, networking, and talking to recruiters. But let's be honest, it can be painful. Resistance is a natural part of the journey, especially when the unknowns become known and seem insurmountable. π§
π§ Here's where neuroscience comes in. I work with my clients to create a story from the future, not just about the future. Our hearts, guts, and heads all have the same electrochemical activity, and 90% of communication flows from our heart and gut to our heads. So, listening to your heart and gut is backed by science! π§¬
π The brain can't distinguish between story and reality. By revisiting our future story, we build new neural networks as if we're already there. This helps our unconscious mind work towards overcoming obstacles on the journey. π
π Preparation is key. Instead of just planning, we need to call up what's not in our awareness and address potential roadblocks. What anchors do we need to let go of? What new anchors do we need? π±
ποΈ Planning is a rolling activity. Set weekly goals, like making networking calls or scheduling meetings, and keep rolling the planning forward as you progress on your journey. π
π Even if you're doing the same job, the environment, software, and people around you will change. Embrace the new reality and adapt to the differences. π
π Change is a journey, and it's not always easy. But by listening to our hearts and guts, creating a story from the future, and preparing for the unknown, we can navigate the obstacles and embrace the new reality with confidence. πͺβ¨
